Just joking, but since your not posting anymore, I might as well have some fun.

You said all the chicas hate Americans. Why? You seem to understand them the best of all of us, so why not elaborate as to why they hate US so much.
You should feel lucky Jmac...remember your Canadian.
IMHO, it was wrong for YMMV to state "all Americans" in describing how the chicas feel about our presence in CR. I also think his formula for success works for himself based on the fact that he LIVES there. Most of us don't so getting into these deep emotional ties for a five to ten day visit is useless. I do agree on his thoughts of being disrespectful, as I have seen a few instances in the DR where the guy definitely needed to be bitch slapped.
The only thing that confuses me a little is that YMMV writes that he is semi-young and handsome, speaks pretty good Spanish, enjoys deep emotional ties with many different ladies, and lives in CR. With that recipe I hardly doubt I would be screwing half the DR trying to establish deep relationships, which he stated. To me the non-gulch scene would be more adequate, and many of them would have little or no interaction with Americans, but maybe I read it wrong and I'm too lazy to go back and look.
Common sense tells me that the DR would be the last place to look for a meaningful emotional relationship (Zona Blue being a close second).

Now if I could only get Paco to understand that.
