HDR vs Jaco and my specific needs:
HDR: I do not like fat chicks, older chicks, Dominicans, or ugly chicks and the HDR is full of these the last couple years. However,
I really like Nicaraugans. I have always found Nicas to deliver superior service and take directions well. Our plane lands around 9pm and it's always been a tradition to hit the HDR on the first night after we check in. Since I usually snatch a hot bodied dark skin Nica that is in the a 8 range for overall looks- the HDR serves a purpose for me.

There always seems to be ample Nicas and I find many are loners, shy, and have the proverbial chip on their shoulders due to the strong bias against them. This is all perfect for me and plays right into my game for all the right reasons!
My wingman usually have less than 3 CR trips under their belt and are impressed more easily as well. So while I do agree the A-talent has shifted to Jaco, and us Mongers need to work a little harder at the HDR. There are no other places to go at 10.30pm+ at night in SJ that has this variety. Knowing this, and knowing we will hit the MPs for lunch the following day, and than The Cocal a few days later....it's similar to a mounting crescendo with the best (most drama) for last from the Cocal!
So HDR serves it purpose well and I neither love or hate it. It just is what it is, imho.
JACO: I used to really Hate Jaco too, as I see it for the sewer pit of a third world country that it really is.
However,
I love Manuel Antonio and I have a
Penchant for Hedonism! In order to enjoy my Abberations simultaneously, Jaco - or the Cocal really - is a necessary pit stop in my world and I have made adjustments for my time in Jaco accordingly.
I have refined the scope of how I use Jaco and limit my time (last 3 years) to renting condo on beach at North end. It's a nice family condo facing beach and it's a more pleasant experience to chill at condo pool and walk to and from the surf to pool and or Claritas Restaurant (with Tica or Paisa in tow).
And even though we rent condo for 3-4 nights, we take off to Manuel Antonio for the day and sometimes sleep over there if we get too drunk. Fishing and or golfing at Los Suenos encompass other days and we usually drive directly to airport at 5:30am for 9am flight. (We will take our dates to lunch at Los Suenos and than jump in the pool and pay with cash at swim up bar. As long as you don't ask for a towel, I've never been hassled).
Other than fishing at the Cocal for pink snapper, we avoid Jaco all together (less our condo on beach which is quiet). Literally, we drive to Cocal, tip guard to park inside gate, take as much time as we need at Cocal, and drive everybody right back to condo on beach. It's been over 3 years since I walked on the Main Street of Jaco and if I never do it again - I'm okay with it!
One positive merit for Cocal versus HDR, the bartenders give you your change back!!
