Because congressmen and women have to fly home to their constituencies, The Congress of the US has passed a bill in 24 hours with a hand written final paragraph at time of senate vote.

The FAA got no more money but were allowed to move money from airport improvement accounts to end furloughs for air traffic controllers.

The US congress at work, when the American people suffer they do nothing. When congressmen experience the slightest pain, immediate action.

Phuck you US Congress. Phuck YOU!

Prior to the sequester taking effect, the House passed two bills to allow each department to move money around. Harry Reid, in the Senate, refused to even bring up the bills for a vote. Plus, Obama said he would veto those bills if they ever came to his desk. It is very obvious who is trying to inconvenience the public. Examples, stop the White House tours, cut back on border agents, cut back on TSA agents, cut back on air traffic controllers. And as El O said, the budget cuts are only for the increases in the 2013 budget. They still have more money than they did in 2012.

I am not going to get into the politic of this whole mess. As I posted previously there is an abundance of blame that can be tossed around on both sides of the aisle. However the quoted words struck me as more political finger pointing then any attempt to solve the situation for this reason.

It is the house that is clamoring for cuts in federal spending. Moving money around does nothing to cut spending it just robs Peter to pay Paul. Typical political BS don't solve the problem just, as politicians like to say, kick the can down the road. It takes no courage to do that.

Courageous politician has certainly become an oxymoron.

RIGHT ON !!!

Well...when they cancelled the White House Easter egg hunt......that did it for me. I mean there are priorities aren't there.

Hate to tell you but most of the Senate and the House do not give a shit about the public. Their pet projects and ways to increase their net worth are the priorities.

What is really telling is that when an effort is made to reduce the budget by less than 2%....they go bonkers.

Piss on all of them.

I am not an American, but I connect in Miami in almost all of my flights. If I was an American citizen I would be severally pissed off no matter what my political beliefs are.

We are always pissed off, regardless of party affiliation just like the Ticos. I think the Tico's protest more than we do, just saying.

one of things i respected about the tamil tigers in sri lanka was that they never took out innocent civilians just government officials
and the government finally stomped them out since they couldn't have that
almost makes me wonder how radical islam would be perceived by american society if they went after the people making our policy instead of random terrorism against innocents
i think they might be received as heroes at this point

Was nice to see the U.S. Congress can actually get something passed to help out the common fellow for a change. Clients and friends I picked up this past week had NO delays (due to ATC) and almost all said the return trip was smooth as well so guess we can put these kinds of delays behind us. Of course, just in time for the rainy season down here but not much anyone can do about that type of delay.
