How many mongers have actually seen how many of the chicas live? I'm not talking about the f*cking Colombianas or Nicas, because they really don't count, as they are in a 'foreign' country to begin with. I'm talking about the Ticas. Most of you don't have a f*cking clue as to how many personas live in CR. In two years on this board, I think perhaps a total of two or three people have actually witnessed how they live. Besides myself and Astroglide (?), who else has actually stayed in a chicas abode? Of course Mente knows what I'm talking about. Even the mongers that reside in CR don't have a clue...Vegas Bob (Escazu...yeah, get f*cking real!), Ding Dong, TexasVegas, et. al. I've spent many a night in the hills above Desamparados near Aserri in a tin shack. About a year ago, some members of this board, including an Admin, were trying to tell me how good the roads were in that area. They haven't been where I've been.
A very interesting post, and a good one.
If you will allow me to tell a little story before I deal with Costa Rica, I would like to set the table a bit for my personal views on this subject.
In College at Texas, my Frat, and others, would take trips to Laredo to party and get laid. If you are from Texas, you probably know all about Boys Town, Papagayos, etc. Well, after a fun time, I decided to go back alone and enjoy Nueveo laredo.
I went to the place across from Papagayos, think it was the Monkey bar then, and picked up a beautiful young women. We spent hours making out there, then went to have dinner, got one of the owners to drive us to an ATM to get more cash, then went to the back of one of the bars there to crash for the night, yeah I can be pretty crazy or stupid. So as we start to progress, the girl begins to cry. I speak way to much Spanish at the time, and understand all she is saying. She was from Monterey, and her family didn't know what she was doing here. She needed money and so, took a bus up to sell herself. Even with my raging hormones we spent the night talking, and just snuggling. Now, before you guys jump down my throat about paying and getting nothing understand that I payed her zero for the night. Yea, I paid for dinner, and drinks, etc, but we just spent the night talking and I learned a huge amount. I learned alot about her though.
These are humans we are dealing with. Sure, they can be evil, and self-centered, but they are people non the less.
Not to get off on a tangent I think this is why I got concerned by the posts of one member here that I thought never even set foot in C.R. yet would talk incesently about the girls, and thus in a way degrading them. Hey, I have been to the Del Ray, walked around, I understand it is a buisness by all parties, but I think we need to keep in mind that we lose something if we think of them as meat, and nothing more.
Anyway, my story in C.R. is probably different then most. I went to monger, but in a period of a few hours changed my tune.
I met a beautiful young Tica, and got to spend over a month with her. She was not a working girl, and this whole story took place south of San Jose. I went to dinner with her every night, and got to travel back to her home town and meet her family, and see how they all lived. I got to meet many people, her friends, familly, and saw how they all lived. It is always strange for me to be in my late 20's and treated like royalty simply because I have white skin and blue eyes. I remember one event so distinctly, I was leaving a marina in Golfito, and an elderly Tico walked passed me, and said "Buenos dias Senor." and tilted his hat to me. I remember thinking, how weird this is that a guy in his 60's is calling me "sir", and since he never met and it was only do to my race.
When we traveled around, I also got a strange feeling that I was the trophy, not her. I was the one all the Ticas looked at, envious of her. She was going to good places with a white guy, I bet alot of you guys know what I am speaking about if you take a Tica to a resturant or shopping. The other Ticas look on so enviously as you can spend a few hundred bucks at some clothes store.
Well, anyway, I had a huge amount of fun, and got to learn a great deal about how the average Tica lives, and as a whole it isn't pretty.
I'm not sure what the point over all of this post was, maybe nothing, but I would just like to thank GringoTim for having the guts to post a very honest assesment of his fellows in C.R.
