Both Rudi and Carlos are great guys and do a bang up job, not just with reservations but also with all the other tasks they're charged with. Each have a superior command of English and each go out of their way to make a guy feel like he's at a "....home away from home....".
Slipping a "benjamin" don't work at Amistad to bump somebody and Mkink is correct to note such an assertion is insulting. That hotel don't work that way.
As well, the hotel and its owner don't "owe" no "message board" a darn thing. The hotel provides a righteous discount to begin with and if a guy stays longer than just a couple of nights and pays in cash money, the discount is even more righteous. And don't think that because it's cash it doesn't go "...on the books...". The owner is a professional accountant and is NOT going to risk his hotel business over some cash payments. The discount is associated with not having to pay Visa and Mastercard fees.
There are choices each guy has to make in SJO with respect to housing. Each "facility" has it's own flavor. And, moreover, each facility has it's own unique set of internal workings which include problems, errors, mistakes, call 'em what you want. It's my assertion Amistad is so well run (Marlena has a LOT to do with making certain stuff gets done....just as Rudi and Carlos do....not to mention Luis who makes sure things of an "infrastructure nature" are all up to snuff......; and can't leave out the people cooking and cleaning, either....nor the bar staff....) that when compared to the "other CRT hotels" it probably has the fewest SNAFU's of them all....and they all have 'em.....SNAFU's that is...; In 5 years on this message board, this situation is the very first I can recall where Amistad had a glitch. Big deal. Yeah, it sucked to be Slam95136 that day no question....but almost six months to pitch a bitch about it? Had it been me, I would have been back at the hotel the very next day after I had secured lodging and obtained my "pound of flesh". *shrug*

I checked into your reservation in Feb 2012 (almost 6 months ago) and you are correct Rudy made an error in your reservation and we did have no rooms as we were full. I am not sure exactly why or how at this time as he is off the next two days but i can assure you

As much as Hotel Amistad appreciates CRT business, there are some members who take things to far and make accusations that are to the point of insulting.
So to make this simple
Rudy made a mistake - he is human - it was not intentional - he tried to find a solution for you - Normally we would comp the room or pay for the new hotel - it happens at all hotels at some point.
Hotel Amistad has supported CRT members for many years and have ALWAYS when in error made sure that the member was made whole when brought to our attention.
We can only apologize at this point and my phone is always available for discussion and to find solutions that everyone can walk away from happy.
