Let me explain about players from the south, IMO most would prefer to play defense. Only a select few players get to touch the football on the Offense. 4.3 to 4.6 speed required. Most offensive linemen wish they had the speed to play on the defensive side of the ball. Normally offensive linemen are the biggest and the slowest. They would prefer to tackle somebody, not back up and protect a QB.The Offensive line get no glory. Now on the other hand everyone on the defense has a shot at the ball and they love to be really aggressive and yes they get the glory also if they dominate. Defense win Championships that is a proven fact.
I guess I just have a problem with your wording. You say "prefer".
Now I'm not associated with any football programs but I'm pretty sure that QB, RB and receivers' jersey are the most purchased by fans (and K*ds are certainly part of that)
You didn't mention a 300 pound guy in your original post. That 300 pound guy you're referring to isn't about to play wide receiver, RB or QB. If you're referring to that guy then I can certainly believe he would prefer to be a defensive linemen than an offensive one.
And yes, as you said, only a few select people get to touch (take care of) the football but that's a matter of physical stature and skill, not preference. Who wouldn't want to be Tom Brady, Drew Brees, Aaron Rodgers or Arian Foster ?
