I recently had the opportunity to spend some time w/ Javaman (Bruce) and Don Ursulo at HLH - very good, sharp guys BTW - enjoyed talking with both of them.
In short, great place - reminds me of a cigar store/lounge here in Miami - great place to sit, smoke, and talk - plus the bar at HLH is steps away
(Speaking of the bar area, I also met Boyd - really great guy and very helpful - understand why so many on the board like him and why he gets so much positive feedback

)
Anyway, as I've posted in the past, Cuban cigars just don't do it for me - HLH has a selection, and the prices are in line but for a decent ring gage cigar I'm not paying $20+++ - anywhere - however.......
Don Ursulo has a line of cigars which are superb - really excellent - he has basically 2 lines, rolled in CR- one is more mild, the other has more ligero, making it fuller, stronger - very good cigar, especially the construction - its $10/stick and very good - I bought a few to take back. (He even has a secret ingedient - I've been sworn to secrecry, but PM me if you want to know what it is

hint - has nothing to do with being rolled on the thighs of virgins, which are likely in short supply at HLH anyway

)
God knows I've searched

- in the SJ area, there is no better option (the Casa de Habano that was in the San Pedro area has closed; plus all they sold there were Cubans).
(SJ and CR in short are not paradise when it comes to buying cigars b/c of the stupid import taxes - I think Bruce told me like 110%

- and most of the domestic "brands" are awful, their market being the visitor who would not know a real cigar from a dog turd - digression - I'm at HLH and this guy comes in looking for a "flavored" cigar - I told him they don't have any; and for christ sakes, smoke something decent - vast majority of flavored cigars suck b/c they use glycerine to flavor otherwise inferior tobacco - the "Acid" line by Drew Estate, has its fans - not me - but always reminded me of how a dorm room occupied by 3 black guys smelled way back in my college days - combo of insense, pot, and other odors - not bad; just distinct!

)
Thanks Bruce and Urs and hopfully see you late September!
