Guanacaste' IMO is too far a trip to just do an overnight. Mucho Gusto may disagree....
Actually - I totally agree!
I always do a minimum of 2 nights at the beach in Guanacaste. It's perfect for me. And I usually call (or e-mail) one of my favorita's (before each trip) and arrange to have them meet me at my hotel on the beach. Once upon a time, I would regularly buy their flight ticket and have them fly to the coast with me. But that got very old and too expensive after a while. The past several trips, I just pre-arrange everything with the chica ahead of time, and tell her what day / time I'll be at my hotel in Guanacaste. They get on the bus in SJO, and meet me in Flamingo. I get on a plane and when I arrive in Liberia or Tamarindo, I get my rental car and drive to the hotel to meet my chica. But I
DO pay for their bus ticket back to SJO (around 5,000 colones)!
For me, 2 days / nights a la playa is just the right amount of time. It gives me plenty of time to attend to business matters, and plenty of “fun†time to spend with a favorita. But I would never recommend trying this with a chica that you've just met. You have no idea how she'll be for an extended amount of time together. And although 2 days and 2 nights may not be a long time, it can seem like an eternity if you're with the wrong person!
IMO, Jaco is probably the easiest beach destination from SJO. But even there – if you're only going for one day, it makes for a
REAL long day. You're probably better off getting a hotel for at least one night. Especially since it's about a 2.5 hour drive each way, and most of the P4P action is only available at night. As always, YMMV.
