Geez, with all that moving around, you might need to rent a truck. I suggest meeting a girl named Karen, I am sure she can help. :) Now, seriously, I would like to hear about the Dunn Inn bcs my best friend wants to come in Nov and I saw had they some 2 bdrm suites. There was also a recent thread about the HDR. I think all you need to do dial 100-CIEN. I think it costs $1.67 per minute.

Dunn Inn is a CRT sponsor! :D Chica friendly, but be a gentleman. A report I got yesterday from NHHank via telephone is that the Dunn has a lot of stairs and little alcoves, etc. Your room, although having thin walls will be fairly secluded. Excellent restaurant on-site. Hint: Ask for the "plato del dia," always a good value. Dunn Inn is just behind (i.e. to the north of) Casa Vino and the Clarion Amon Plaza hotel. It is also very close to MPs JetSet and V.I.P. #1. Also very close to J.R. Ribs, the Bolivar Zoo, not far from HLH and NF, and a brisk five-minute walk to the SL.

Taking a girl to the beach: I've heard more failure stories about this particular activity than I've heard success stories, but YMMV. Best idea is to try a girl a couple times before the beach jaunt, then make sure she's down with a couple days away from her family/normal life. Many girls have bebes and can't stay overnight.

Closest beach to SJ is Jaco, and with the Beatle Bar etc. you might not need to bring your own chica. Quepos/Manuel Antonio is a bit farther; BYO. Guanacaste' IMO is too far a trip to just do an overnight. Mucho Gusto may disagree.... :)

Hey! I just re-read your post...you don't give any dates? When are you coming back for trip #2? :?:

Actually - I totally agree!

I always do a minimum of 2 nights at the beach in Guanacaste. It's perfect for me. And I usually call (or e-mail) one of my favorita's (before each trip) and arrange to have them meet me at my hotel on the beach. Once upon a time, I would regularly buy their flight ticket and have them fly to the coast with me. But that got very old and too expensive after a while. The past several trips, I just pre-arrange everything with the chica ahead of time, and tell her what day / time I'll be at my hotel in Guanacaste. They get on the bus in SJO, and meet me in Flamingo. I get on a plane and when I arrive in Liberia or Tamarindo, I get my rental car and drive to the hotel to meet my chica. But I DO pay for their bus ticket back to SJO (around 5,000 colones)!

For me, 2 days / nights a la playa is just the right amount of time. It gives me plenty of time to attend to business matters, and plenty of “fun” time to spend with a favorita. But I would never recommend trying this with a chica that you've just met. You have no idea how she'll be for an extended amount of time together. And although 2 days and 2 nights may not be a long time, it can seem like an eternity if you're with the wrong person!

IMO, Jaco is probably the easiest beach destination from SJO. But even there – if you're only going for one day, it makes for a REAL long day. You're probably better off getting a hotel for at least one night. Especially since it's about a 2.5 hour drive each way, and most of the P4P action is only available at night. As always, YMMV.

MG

Trashman,
If you're planning on going to the beach, Jaco is definitley the closest option by car. Manuel Antonio / Quepos is about 20 min by Sansa Air (150 RT) right next to the Juan Santamaria Intl. Airport. If you go to Jaco, I always stay at Canciones del mar. It's right on the beach, one block from the Beatle Bar and within walking distance to everything. The owner Peter is a great guy, the staff, Marco and Noemi are fantastic. If you take a chica, there is no fee, if you grab one for the night, there is a 10.00 guest charge. The hotel has a roof top jacuzzi and bar / resturant overlooking the ocean and a very tropical setting around the pool. Breakfast to order is served and complimentary. They have a web site at www.cancionesdelmar.com for pricing and photos. All the rooms have a full kitchen and a separate living area. I suggest the new ocean front suites as they're just a little nicer.
Manuel Antonio / Quepos is a more scenic beach, great night life if you're into clubbing/discos. There is a P4P place at night called Pescadores in Quepos, small bar, great ceviche and cold beer and any of the women in there at night are generally working/ semi pros. There isn't the selection you may be used to but when I was there in June, there were several really hot chicas who could be had for 50-60$. Again, if you like to dance and party there are a bunch of places in Quepos/Manuel Antonio. I met a young girl there 2 years ago (20 at the time) and everytime I visit, we hook up. (i'm 45) When I go, I stay at the Best Western Kamuk right across the street from Pescadores in Quepos but there are some really nice places but more $$ up the Mountain in MA. If it were me, I think i'd do Quepos/MA just because I hate driving and I think the beaches and night life are better. For P4P, Jaco and the Beatle would be a better choice. Bueno suerte amigo!
