I have not experienced the difficulty getting a drink as was posted. Just like at home I make it a point to know the names of the bar tenders and wait staff. I use as much Spanish as I know to order and to thank them. I tip accordingly just like I would at home. Always smile and say Hi if I am passing through.
You have the
key to better service. People, including bartenders, respect those that respect them leading to better service. There have been many posts on this topic. I recall one poster in another thread stating something like "why even know their names"? That kind of attitude translates in how one comes across when they ask for "X" from the bartender/waitress. No wonder the service sucks for some.
