I'm new to posting here, but have been lurking and studying for months now. You all have provided tremendous information and hillarious stories for me and I thank you. I'm new to Costa Rica and this board, but not to the hobby.

Anyways, I will be in the DR on January 27 and 28th and I'm sure I will see some of you there. Please let me know if anyone else will be here these (2) nights and we can have a few drinks. The rest of my time will be spent in Flamingo Beach for ocean activities / leisure and hopefully I catch (fishing) a few on land also. I always catch / release but never any big lunkers and from what I hear I will need a lot of luck in this part of CR to catch anything  :

I've read this board thoroughly and still need a little insight from you guys. I really would like to fly back and forth from San Jose to Liberia, but very skeptical about flying in a 3rd world aircraft (Nature Airlines found on this site). Aircraft safety usually isn't a well regulated industry or high priority in many of these countries around the world. Can you guys reassure me that this is a safe method in Costa Rica? Or, give me a better method (airline) with which the experience you felt safe and trusted?

Welcome.

I can understand your concerns about flying within CR. I had the same concerns, but it is safe. Both Nature Air and Sansa have good safety records.

I have flown about 6-8 times and CRT member Mucho Gusto has flown probably over 30 times, I'm sure he'll chime in here since he's also the resident expert on Flamingo. I have not heard of any issues since I've been going for the past 3-4 years.

Btw, you are MUCH safer in the air than on the streets below. I'm pretty sure that the number one cause of death (besides old age) in CR is car accidents.

Chi,
Welcome to the board. I've posted lots of info over the years, regarding inter-country flights with Nature Air and Sansa. And I've also posted a ton of info on the board regarding Flamingo. Sorry, but I'm just trying to save myself from typing here!

If you'll spend a little more time reading some older posts, I'm sure all your questions will be answered. If there are some specific answers you need, let me know, and I'll do my best to guide you in the right direction.

Again, welcome aboard!

MG

Thanks for the help and assurance.

Mucho Gusto:

My only issues were flight safety and looking for people in DR during my stay. I've looked at this board for month's and can't find anything in the flight safety regard. If I missed it I apologise.

I recognize and respect both of you and appreciate your responding to my post. Maybe I'll see you when in CR...

Thanks
