The membership on this board has always been free. When I joined there were around 50 members and I new most of them. Now there are 15,000 plus. It is getting out of control. The VIP section is a part of this board that is for members that need assistance with thier mongering. My opinion is that I can pay my fee to the board by feeding in free information. However, every time I make a post I get slammed or corrected by the same person. Is there anyone that is having the same problem? I rest my case.

SEAHAWK,

The rules are generally sporatically enforced with regards to flaming etc. If the situation was the opposite I don't think you would see that kind of behavior. The board has changed since 04. For the better is a :?: that is up in the air for me.

Personally I have never separated between the VIP's and non VIP's when addressing someone or offering my assistance and anyone who says otherwise is full of SH*T! I take it personally that anyone would make such a comment so if your calling me out think again.

Seahawk I could care one way or another if you pay for membership that his your choice, if you feel that people gang up on you, go have an imperial and get laid... Living in CR allows you to do things that each and everyone of us wish they could do when we feel a bit down... LIGHTEN UP!

Berk... .Just for you I increased session length to 15 minutes... I'm sorry this has nothing to do with picking on anyone individual... Replication of search bots, can cause thousands of open sessions on the board / server. Although we run a powerful dedicated server, if we went any longer than 15 minutes the board could go down and not be available for the membership.

Every forum using this type of software with our traffic amount keeps similar session lenghts. Its the way it is... High traffic boards need to maintain controls on what is happening or the bandwidth usage, and overloads on the servers would be a negative towards the rest of the membership. Sorry but if you can not prepare a report in a third party word processing system if you know its going to be long, then copy and paste it so that you have it saved there is nothign I can assit with at that point... Ive stetched it to 15 minutes, but that is as long as we can go without it becoming a problem for the rest of the membership.

With regards to selective enforcement of flaming, Guys you really think I read every single thread, word, post? I peruse, normally if there is a problem one of many members will bring a post, thread, person, situation to my attention at which time I will act accordingly. It is not my intention to allow flaming and or derogatory comments for the sake of any one individual so again if there is a problem with the aforementioned, feel free to let me know about it.. I certainly have no problem with PM's to address board issues of this nature, it sure beats the I lost my password PM which I get 20 of per day... Ummm There is a lost password feature guys.

There are a few members that are having a problem with other members that haven't paid the $100 one time lifetime fee to belong to this board. There are many of us that live in SJ most of the year, like myself. Most of us have more information than is shown on this board. I think ADMIN should make such coments, if they want the $100 or even the $39. Not the members that are using the board for thier own business'. I used to post a lot of good Info on the board 5 years ago, until I got flammed on every post by the same members, or may I say corrected by these no it alls. They know who they are, but probably to stupid to know what they were saying.
I hope you don't consider me to be one of those know-it-alls you're referring to. I don't think I've ever gotten on ANY one's case JUST for not wanting to pay the fee to become a VIP. I think I do have a pretty good idea who you ARE referring to however.

I completely agree that there are more ways of contributing to this board than by simply paying some money. Contributing useful information should count for at least as much if not more. I also completely agree that is a guy's choice whether he wants to go that extra step and contribute the fee or not. He certainly should not be picked on JUST for that. Where I personally might draw the line is that, if you don't have money invested in the board, you don't have quite as much right to complain about how things are being done. If you don't like it, you can always walk. Finally, on your behalf, I also agree that there are certain members (not to single any one out...ID) who I feel are overly negative in their posts, but those guys are that way with everyone, not just you personally, and you should just take it from where it comes and let it wash over you.

HOWEVER, all that being said, I've reviewed your recent posting history and quite frankly could not find anything that should have prompted your latest post. In none of them did I see anything that in any way singled you out for being a non-paying member who was not entitled to speak his mind and, even if there were any that I missed, it certainly wasn't on "every post by the same members".

In fact, if anything, some of YOUR posts seemed somewhat inflammatory themselves towards a certain member whose MP walking tours you apparently don't approve of (and what you saw as negativity on their part was just their response to the tone you took first). Without getting into the particular merits of your case against those tours, THE TONE YOU HAVE USED IN SOME OF THOSE POSTS COULD CERTAINLY HAVE BEEN MORE CIVIL. In short, IMHO, you're being paranoid to think that anyone somehow has it out for you and actually should look in the mirror first before complaining about any one else's tone.

As long as we offer paying and non-paying usage, then both groups have the right to be on the board, but also the responsibility to act within the guidelines. Many one-time free members turn to lifetime members (I am one of them) I personally judge posters by what they have to say and rarely even notice the membership status. Admin1 does a remarkably good job of keeping on top of a large and often fragmented membership.

Let's all get back to talking about girls, gambling and debauchery in general.

Gee glad you decided not single anyone out Pro  . If you have something to say about me have the courage to be direct instead of dancing around the issue.

Don't be so thin-skinned ID. That was just meant as gentle joshing and was posted kinda tongue-in-cheek.

As it happens, I DO think you come off as overly negative a lot of the time AND have absolutely NO problem at all saying so to you directly (in fact, I think I already have in the past). However, I also recognize that, however you post, that is just your way. Naturally, we each have our own styles (how boring things would be if we didn't) and we aren't all always going to be crazy about someone else's (remember KosherKowboy?). Heck, I'm just as kognizant that there are some (perhaps many?) who aren't so krazy about Prolijo's style either (perhaps, yourself inkluded?).

The main thing is that you (and I) post a LOT of useful info and there are MANY CRT members (including myself) who have benefited from much of what you've had to post. So even if I think some of the things you say, or the way you say it, sometimes strike me as, shall we say, undiplomatic, at the same time you should realize I for one still greatly respect what you have contributed to this board.

So are we good bro?

My only disagreement with what our longtime member,Seahawk, has talked about here is that the VIP section is for members that need help with their mongering. though I am more than willing to accept any help you may offer,I don't remember many offers. lol As BK tuna appropriately put it,let's get back to the wine, women, and song that this board was created for. Happy Fathers Day

Since the quote is not mine can't add to it but when in Latina land maybe sugar is a good description and when in Gringa land fat works well.

On boards there is always a certain amount of cliquishness that becomes inevitable as the board ages and the long timers get proprietary or even dismissive because others haven't been there as long or don't post as often.

I personally feel that each person can be enjoyable and informative no matter who they are and how long they've been there. One good nugget of information from one good post benefits everyone on the board. When you move away from the facts then it is always going to come down to opinions. Everyone's got one, and everyone's right about the one they have (no matter how wrong they are. lol) The trick to dealing with opinions is to be open to them, or to debate them, or to disagree about them, but to remember that they are all valid to someone. It's also important to remember that in theory (and it should be in practice) that above all this is a gentleman's board of brothers, and it behooves us all to behave that way, and to respect each other even when we disagree with each other.

The rest is just fun and games. Hey, isn't that the whole idea that went with founding this place? Now back to the broads and the tall stories. Cheers everyone!
