Two things: First, I agree with ID's quote
Quote:
Not quite sure what era you are referring to exactly but I certainly did not find the same scene in the early 90's. Myself and my wingman frequently walked, alone or together at all hours of the night or very early morning, from Key Largo, Happy Days or the old NY bar to the Presidente without any fear of being mugged or accosted in any manner
We were all over the burg in the early 90s and never really had an issue with personal safety, although when I was first there on a TDY trip from Panama, we did have our cheap rental truck broken into.
The other issse was about the price of a KL Debs that Prolijio raised. To tell you the honest truth, I really don't remember if the price was 40 to fifty bucks as at the time or actually cheaper; I was living down there on a long term deployment with Caminos De La Paz, working at the embassy and sincerely, not paying for it, (that often). But that was in my younger and thinner days. So, I will stand corrected if someone else with a better memory can better remember the going rate at the time.
