Well Gringobill… call me crazy, but after numerous friends post about their bad experiences with something, believe it or not, I DO tend to believe them! That’s called - the power of information. I would like to give them the benefit of the doubt. Why would they want to lie to the rest of the membership about problems they had with an airline? What would they gain by lying about something like this?
This is not a forum of Spirit Airline shareholders. We travel to CR for good times, good pu$$y and good cameraderie with friends. I’ve got over 1 million miles with AA, but I certainly don’t get upset when someone posts about their bad experience(s) with AA. As I’ve already mentioned NUMEROUS TIMES, when it comes to the airlines (ALL AIRLINES) sh*t happens. I guess I just don’t understand why you are so defensive about negative comments with Spirit. Do you own shares of Spirit Air or something?
Believe it or not, as a central Florida resident, I would absolutely love to see Spirit become a major player. But for now, I’ll continue to travel 2.5 hours to Miami for my un-eventful flights to CR.
And yes, my comments / opinions on this subject are based solely on what I’ve read. Thus, the reason for the “YMMV†statement in my post(s)! I don’t have to make the mistake of flying with some cut-rate, no-frills, low-priced, dog-sh*t airline (with totally inept and incompetent employees) because people I know (and trust) have already had that lovely experience, and they’ve already taken one for the team, eliminating the need for me to make the same mistake(s) they’ve made (oops, did I say that out loud) ?!?!?
And based on what I’ve read, I’d rather have my ass kicked by Mike Tyson than fly with Spirit right now. I look forward to my trips to CR too much to leave it in the hands of a carrier with a less-than-favorable reputation. I’m just grateful that CRT gives people a forum to pass on information, good and bad, that could impact all of us. But again, this is just one man’s opinion.
FWIW.... If I ask 10 “experienced†friends about a certain type of fishing boat (brand X) that I’m thinking about buying , and they all tell me to stay away from that particular boat, would I go out and spend over a million dollars on brand X to see for myself? …or should I (maybe) take their word for it, and do a little more homework before I buy that boat? I know, a boat’s a much bigger ticket item, but you can see where I’m going with this!
There are several members (like you) who happen to love Spirit Airlines, and can’t say enough good things about them, and I think that’s fantastic. But unfortunately, those members SEEM to be in the minority. But does any of this really matter? If you like Spirit, by all means - fly with them. If not, then don’t. It’s not a big deal. And if I’ve offended you with any of my posts about Spirit Airlines, then I am sorry, as this was not my original intent, whatsoever.
Respectfully,
Mucho Gusto
