Yep I have seen that sad scenario too many times. And the girl does not necessarily like the responsibility of having to work for the brother and the rent(i.e. they lament that they tried to quit but then the utilities are due mom calls with the guilt call etc). 40-45 year old retired mom is about right. Pretty much that whole quote is spot on.
