ON THE OTHER HAND... I can't see myself moving back to the States.
I would still want to have a fairly balanced lifestyle - involving exercise, sports, watching the games with buddies at Sportsmen's or the Presidente, checking out the local music scene, hitting some dance clubs, a little gambling, some cultural pursuits, and maybe heading out on a motorcycle to tour around the country every few weeks. And the great thing is - when you want the sex, it's there AND it's easy. I could even see getting involved in a relationship again at some point in the future - but only if she's over 25 this time...

GR - If you want balance in your life, I don't recommend moving down here. Exercise is easy enough, but San Jose is NOT a city that is booming with culture and activities.
There are MANY, MANY, MANY washed-up and down-and-out gringos living here. They've been swept up with the tide of debauchery and are probably living day to day, with whatever money they can scrape-up. I see them all the time. Usually, they are extremely drunk and they always seem to have some big-money deal in the works. You know the story.... cigar plantation in the mountains.... hotel on the beach. In every case, the story always ends with "I need investors. I just need some more money."
When someone down here hands me a business card... and talks about ALL THE MONEY they are about to make... I just kind of inwardly laugh. I scratch my head and think "this guy doesn't know me from Adam and, in the first five minutes of meeting, he is bragging about his big money deal." If you have money, unless you've never had any money before, there is no need to brag about it. It makes you sound like a poor trashy lottery winner. And, if you are about to make big money, why the phuck would you want anyone to know... especially down here???
This is reality buddy. Very few people come down here to work. You need money BEFORE you move down. Most investments that I hear about are failures. I would venture to guess that perhaps 1 in 10 investments ever work out.
Okay.... on the upside. CHICAS ARE EVERYWHERE. Now.... if you are a fat obnoxious slob and don't take care of yourself... THEY AREN'T ALL AVAILABLE. I also laugh when I hear or see the old, fat gringos that think they can pick up any chica in CR. Hmmm.... let me provide some insight.... If she is young and hot and you are NOT... she's after your wallet.
Okay... I'm stepping off the soap box.
