San Jose was not this big before, and will continue the "growing pains" and will survive just as it has been for many many years of growth.......

I think that the pollution is the way that CR practices population control. When was the last time anyone saw a healthy looking elderly person in SJ?

Three at the HDR and 2 at ZB bar. But, for fear of banishment from the board, I will refrain from mentioning by name any CRT members who abide in SJ. Wait... oh I'm sorry, you said 'healthy looking'.

The article pre-supposes that the average (car-owing) Costaricense is going to be able to afford the price of gasoline in 10 years, which may be doubtful, if peak oil scenarios play out. Hybrids, plug-in hybrids and electric cars please! And start with those foul smelling taxis, busses and trucks...

For me it would not be the end of CR to see these problems. Hell better to go back to riding bikes anyway we would all look better especially the Chicas! :P What would be the end of CR too me is the Americanization of it all! Yes this would SUCK! I love to see the people interact together down there with the peck on the cheek attitude instead of the Phuck You attitude we see so much in the states.

I think many people in our society have gone from a 3 foot space to 5 feet or more now? People get this bad F-Y attitude once they know they can get away with it & they can survive without others help. We see this in even families now. You do not see the blame game in CR as life is to hard to point fingers at each other all day. We certainly live in more fear than the Ticos. Have to worry if you can have 2 bears & just drive home without something major happening??

Men have brought some of this on themselves or maybe it is the starvation of decent women or both. Women I work with are very nice indeed but afraid to be very friendly or talk much because guys think they want something else & since so many men seem desperate after 40 I can't say I blame them. They have to really trust your motives to really be friendly since they already have who they want in life.

That little hug & kiss on the cheek is far more important than we realize it starts to open the door to human understanding & acceptance. When I mix with the ticas in their society I hear Guapo & muy amable many times or Buena gente, etc. You hear this more often in the gulch but I hear it shopping & doing general business functions. Do I hear this at home NO! Hey it may not be true but we need to hear this form time to time & our culture seems to have further lost its warmth & loving ways too me. Hearing these little things from time too time helps keep us ballanced upbeat & less depressed as someone made our day just a little better with a few kind words.

Many men would not feel so much pressure in the states to exploit the first woman that is friendly to them if we all felt generally more complete about our selves being accepted by others in a pleasant way. It is not all about sex to me it is more about human touch & acceptance which is a very powerful thing which is getting harder to find in the states.

The end comes in CR when we see the people living in fear of being loving touching people. I can deal with many of the problems of natural pain of growth of a society but I can not endure much more coldness & general unhappiness with depression that I see so many suffer with here.

I wonder how thy got 335,000 new homes. CR has a low population growth rate, one of the lowest in Latin America. Maybe that figure includes some replacement assumption.

IMO, one of the keys is the development of Liberia, and Guanacaste in general. We need to decentralize development away from the Central Valley.
