Joker99 mentioned the Amon doesn't have the rail, but actually it does have something similar, although much less chica traffic walks by. Several years ago while in San Jose and staying at the Hemingway, I would go to the Amon's open air cafe in the late afternoon or early evening, where they served a daily buffet, each day serving some particular country's cuisine. It wasn't bad and the price was right.....maybe $4.00 to $5.00. This cafe also had a bar with a quite charming young lady tending. You could indeed sit slightly elevated above the sidewalk, sipping a drink or eating your meal and enjoy the pleasures of some fine looking chicas walking past as they got off work from their employment in a few government offices close by. The cafe is still there, though I believe the buffet has since ceased to exist. I can understand why, as the buffet really didn't seem to do that much business, but I did personally enjoy it.

you guys can talk all ya want, but in my opinion nothing beats the pres..Received the discount before crt secured it for us, they treat me like a king, and have never been hasseled bout a chica (only when she had no cedula), till then, Its the spot for me!! When I check in, they know me by name....ya they cant pronounce it correct, but the effort, and friendliness is always apparent....viva el presidente!!

Hey Zig,
Based on comments by numerous members (including myself), it seems like things have changed a little bit at the Prez. If nothing else, the enforcement of their policies is still consistently inconsistent.

When you return from next weeks' trip, let us know how everything went with your stay at the Prez. I'd be curious to see your opinions on this subject.

Thanks, and have a great time! :o

Mucho Gusto

In order to not upset Witling, I won't go into detail on mysterious $30 add-ons at the Amon Plaza, if you are curious:

I will however disagree with everything Thebatmandude wrote:

I have to say without question the amon is better. I have stayed at both. The rooms at amon are nicer, the hot tub and sauna out back in the garden are a featuer not at the prez, the area is nicer and quieter, and it is a one block walk to zona blue. I now stay only at amon; but i do go up and have lunch at the prez to watch the show/chicas on parade. I feel i get the best of both worlds

I too have stayed at both, and I think many people would find the rooms at the Presidente nicer than the rooms at the Amon Plaza. Certainly specific rooms, even "standard' ones, are nicer than their equivalent at the Amon. They vary alot in how recently they were renovated, their size, view, and amenities, so unless you've stayed in a few, you may have not gotten a good sense of what is available. As for hot tub and sauna, have you been to the eight floor of the Prez? Location, OK you're close to a couple of MP's instead of being convenient to everything else. Quiet, yes, I'll give you quiet, if quiet is paramount all day and night (there are quiet interior rooms at the Prez) inside and out, then stay in Barrio Amon.

Everyone needs to try both. Each has its plus side.
