I just finished chatting with Barbara at the Copa. They have new mgt and the agreement with CRT is no longer in effect. Her words.

Admin1 can you confirm this?

Currently, the studios are $99 and the suites are $149. This includes their new VIP package which includes the following:

Free shuttle to and from SJ
    Free 30 minute massage
10% off drinks and food after 7 PM
    Free breakfast

Huge downside... their chica fee is $10. If you don't opt for the VIP package, they will give 10% off the room and the chica fee goes up to $20.

Assuming you fill a shuttle with 6 people, it should cost about $20 per head max including propina. So, a 2-way shuttle is really only worth $40 per person at most.

I remember the good old days when a room in Jaco was between $40 and $60 and the chica fees were usually non-existent. Whats up with the new rates and rules?

I know Leo is gone. Katia is the new manager and her niece Pia is the assistant. I just made reservations there over instant messenger about 10 minutes ago. Haven't heard anything about the CRT deal though. Can't see why anything would have changed though. I will speak to Katia tomorrow and update this thread if needed.

I know for a fact the chica fee is $10 with VIP and $20 without VIP. I made sure I was clear on this one.

Look, since there is so much inconsistency with this place, would guys on the board be interested in a house or an apartment at a a reasonable rate. I{ve been thinking about taking a nice place for clients and guests, but am not sure if guys always want to stay in a hotel. If I did it, security would be taken care of. Let me know guys if there is enough interest for me to do this in addition to my other clients and I{ll start looking for something. Stay tuned, we are going to throw some very hedonistic parties this summer and am looking for the right venue to do it.

Hey TW, I can safely say the answer is yes. If there was some place close and had a pool/ good view, I for one would consider it.

Let me see what I can come up with. More long term, Im talking with an investor that might build a 6 unit place to accomodate my growing business and need for rooms all the time.

I will be at the copa in a week for a 3 day stay. My other trip reports are very detailed on the hotels I stayed at. You will see a thorough review on the updated Copa in about 2 weeks.
