Do a search and you will find a lot of info about the hotel.

They are very clear in their attitude toward you bringing Chica back to your room. They are basically against it but will grudgingly allow you to do so for a $30.00 guest fee.

Why bother? Do a search and get booked at one of the chica friendly hotels you will find listed in various posts.

Stayed there one night on way back from Panama headed for Jaco. Clean, large firm bed, relatively quiet(no casino noise or drunken gringos yelling in the halls), friendly staff--I think that I'll stay again. I registered the colombiana that I was traveling with and had no problem. Don't know what I payed, but it could have been less than registering a chica at the DR(?). For me it was a very pleasant experience.

DO NOT STAY AT SLEEP INN IF YOU PLAN ON MONGERING!!!

I booked a last minute flight from a cab on the way to O'hare on one of my trips. When I landed in CR I asked the cabbie to help me find a room, everything was booked. He mentions Sleep Inn, i'm so excited to be in CR that I don't care what it cost per night, just want to check in and hit the town. I arrived late in the evening and did not want to miss out on anything. Well, come to find out it's like $89 a night and a $25 chica fee, only one chica at a time and the hotel and hotel staff are not chica friendly. This is not SL and/or Presidente.

Too bad I didn't know Hotel Castillo was down the block. I was too busy drinking to find another place to stay. Oh, well. You live and learn, never again.

You're better off staying with the homeless couple sleeping in the cardboard box down from HDR.

Hotel Asia will solve all your problems!

Seriously if your going to monger at all, any hotel would be better then an American operated one.

By American, I meant CDN-US business.

Holiday Inn would be on my list of no-go as well.

I don,t think that a filthy disgusting place like the hotel asia would be suitable for many of the members

Motel eden would be a far better place

Motel Eden is a short term "love motel" and don't believe you can book a stay there over 12 hrs.

And was Jmac giving "bad advice" again? I've heard accusations recently of this happening. :P Obviously (to us that know about the Asia anyway) he was making a wise-crack. (Or else the dump's owned by Canadians and he was shamelessly promoting the place.)

I talked with the owner a few days ago of Sleep Inn...who said occupancy was running around 85% the past couple months. With the shortage of nice hotel rooms in downtown and its name recognition, dont look at them changing their policies any time soon. Plus I'm thinking for those guys that want the quality room without the Delrey noise, their prices plus chica fees may not be that unreasonable...for the kind of guys we are talking about who wont go to the Hotel Asia  ...

Hotel Asia does and has served a useful purpose for many more years than a lot of posters on this board have been coming to Costa Rica. While it certainly is not for everyone I believe with more hotels like Sleep Inn or more dress codes like the Presidente it will continue to serve a purpose.

I think the owner is most likely laughing all the way to the bank.

Ive stayed there ST, and I know one of the night time guys that work there.

Its not really as bad as it sounds, but its not really a hotel from what I could see. Honestly, who books a vacation and says " Yeah, were at Hotel Asia !!!"

To tell you the truth Ive never actually seen whats upstairs, so maybe those ones are somewhat nice?
