Well, first of all, let me introduce myself. I am a long time visitor of San Jose'. I've been going there since 1994, have lived near there, and I remember staying at the Presidente in it's "leaner" (and grungier) years, way before the News Cafe...
I am against "ugly Americans" behaving like drunken idiots, mongering or not mongering.
I have never made any kind of "scene" at the Presidente, nor at the Morazan, not even at the Gran Via. I simply prefer to discreetly bring a girl back to my room, and discreetly escort her back to the club afterwards.
So, while I may be a new member here, I am not new to the Presidente, I am not new to San Jose', and I am not new to bringing girls back to my room there.
As to the dress code, I still insist it is bullshit. It seems to me that the meeting about it accomplished nothing; not that it really probably could have, as it seems they have made up their mind.
What it really is, is selective discrimination which gives them the ability to hassle a guest or his invited guest just because they don't like him or her's looks, or because there are an unusual amount of family types in the hotel that particular day so they will clamp down and keep the girls from the Del Rey out.
I think it is a policy which says they really want to cut back on renting rooms to single guys and their invited guests. I am willing to bet anyone who wants to bet, that within a year they will not allow Del Rey girls at all, IF their business continues to be good with families and couples.
I sitll recommend people write them polite, inttelligent e-mails via their web site e-mail form, and complain about this new policy, as individuals, not as CRT members. I think their policy, as stated, is ridiculous.:
-Avoid low-cut clothing
-Avoid extremely short skirts or shorts
-Keep midriffs covered
What the hell is wrong with a midriff or a bit of cleavage? How many gringas staying there will be wearing extremely short skirts or shorts or a bikini style top at some time during their stay? But they will say nothing to them. This is just the hotel's way of saying, "We are going to refuse entry to anyone we don't like the looks of, especially Del Rey girls, at any time, for any reason".
While they are within their rights to do it, it is not a friendly policy to us or the Del Rey girls.
