 Post subject: Money Belts?

Has anyone ever used a money belt? Any problem going thru airport screening? For a while TSA was making you remove your shoes and belts. The last thing I want is for a money belt to go off and having to pull it out in front of everyone. Thanks!

I use two. A real belt made of nylon and a plactic buckle with a zip compartment for three bills.

A second money pouch around my neck, again of nylon so it too is not magnetic.

Normally the TSA does not make me remove my non metallic belt, and it clears the magnetic inspection "arch".

I use a money belt that I bought from Rick Steves Travel a couple of years ago. Very lightweight and holds enough without being obvious or uncomfortable.

Just go right threw airport security. Don't take it off. The little zipper won't set off any metal detecters.

Jmac - For a variety of reasons, a lot of guys bring what they expect to spend in cash. For transporting large sums (under $10,000 of course) I would prefer to have it secured on my person rather than stashed in my carry-on.

Once the boots are on the ground there is no reason to carry more money than I need for food and drinks as I do my mongering in my lair where the safe is... :D 8)

I gave a moneybelt to my elderly mother. She was afraid that someone would snatch her pocketbook, which she now doesn't have to carry.

I straight up just carry the cash on me until I get to the hotel safe. My first trip I rolled thru the airport with 5k. It wasn't an issue at all.
