I have been trying to decide where to stay on my 2nd trip to SJ, I narrowed it down to the presidente & morazon, mostly because of there location. I emailed both places and here are the rates that I was quoted.

The Pesidente:
Standard room - $51 plus tax Spa room - $85 plus tax

Grand spa suite - $95 plus tax
price includes breakfast

Morazon:

Standard $58 Jr. suite $ 88 superior suite $ 105 master suite $130
Taxes are included in the Morazon prices. They also told me that there was a $5 guest fee.

Wendy quoted me the rates at the presidente and Alan Aguilar at Morazon.

Both responded via email within a few hours of the reqeust. Obviously this is a no brainer and the way to go is the pres, never stayed at either but have read enough from this forum to know the pres is a MUCH nicer hotel. I guess the thing that bothers me is that I was just there 2 weeks ago and saw the $35 a night sign advertisement for the morazon. Thats the only reason I was considering Morazon.

I have just responded to morazon's email asking what happened to the rooms for $35 a night. I'm fairly certain they will tell me that none of those are available. I will let you know what they say.

One tip is the Studio rooms at the Pres are about $10 cheaper and are just fine with double bed rather than queen but same size bath. That is a good option for those wanting to save a buck. They don't necessarily tell you about them but they do have them and don't forget the free breakfast at the Pres. rbc100

I was wondering about the studio rooms myself, they didn't list them and I just figured that none were available for the dates I requested. I will email wendy back and ask about the studio, thanks for the heads up.

Morazan is currently (today) advertising a room rate of:

Mon - Thurs $35.00 plus tax

Fri - Sun $40.00 plus tax

As was posted in another thread a few days ago when you call them out on the advertised rate they fold and give you that rate. Good luck.

Just booked a studio room at the presidente for june 30th - july 4th

price was $42 plus tax ( breakfast buffet at the news cafe included)

Anybody ever stayed in one of their studio rooms before, just how small are they? Seems I saw them described somewhere as an oversized closet, any insight would be greatly appreciated.

I had a huge room at the castillo my first trip and it was great, just trying to save a few bucks and get right in the gulch, I think I have accomplished both with the studio at the presidente.

I do have a couple more questions, what does the free breakfast buffet consist of? Do the studio rooms have a small fridge in them?

Thanks.
