Hi to all, first time poster, long time reader. I have scoured the board for info on my "dream" trip but don't seem to have much luck. My buddy and I are avid deep sea fishermen and want to fish 2-3 days of a 5 day trip. But we also want plenty of company. Is this possible? It seems that the Pacific coast is quite a distance from the capital, which seems to be where the ticas are.

Can anyone advise? We're planning on going right after the Easter holidays. Are there ticas in the fishing village areas? Or do we have to do one or the other...

Any advice would be sincerely appreciated. Thanks brothers!

I don't know what the fishing is like this time of year you need to ask Mucho Gusto but the beast combination of fishing and chicas is Jaco and the Beatle Bar. Do a search on the Beatle Bar and you will get plenty of info.

3rdegree,
For good fishing & plenty of chicas, go to Jaco.
Search the board, and you'll find all the information you need, for all months of the year. If you're an avid fisherman, then you already know that fishing will always be 'hit or miss', no matter where you are.

This time of year, the hottest fishing is being reported from the Central / Pacific side of the country. But even with that, there are many factors that can adversely affect your trip, i.e., tides, currents, water temp, moon phase, migratory bait patterns, red tide, fishing pressure, ocean conditions, bonding system on the boat, type of motor/engine noise (outboard vs. inboard / gas vs. diesel)....and the list goes on and on.

Welcome to the board, but you must take the time to read what's available to you. I also suggest paying the $39 membership fee, as it helps support this board, and you'll also save mucho dinero with all the discounts that you'll receive. Then we'll talk about some SERIOUS fishing!

Mucho Gusto

Better fleet at Quepos, 1.25 hs S of Jaco via car, minimal chicas. BYO from SJ for a day or two and send em back on the plane or bus--they're all used to the bus.

I planned on fishing last year as well. I ended up staying 7 days at the SL.
I had plenty to do. Rafting twice, volcano tour, zip line tour, ATV tour, jungle cruise, horseback, yada-yada..........

I suggest you stay in Jaco or a place near your marina. Jaco is 2-2 1/2 hours away from SJ. You could book the SL for your arrival and departure hotel in SJ. Bill the owner can book your fishing trip for you. He has a fishing fleet that he does bizness with.
