I personally have a problem with this stupid dress code garbage. I want the chica to be dressed sexy and see nothing wrong with a short skirt or cleavage showing. Thousands of girls walk by the entrance of the Prez every day dressed this way. Why do these other guests seem to make such a big deal about it? And who do they really get more $ from , the "whiners" or mongers? I would bet that for every prude that complains about the girls there are 100 or more of us checking in that hotel. Eco-tourists maybe come & go once or twice in thier life while alot of us come there once or twice in a season! Maybe management should consider that for a moment. Guess I should call up there and complain about all of the grungy , foul- smelling , bare-footed , hairy, flea-ridden, back-pack-toting , mop heads that I've seen getting on & off the elevators in there. Most of thier boyfriends are just as scroungy. I think these are the ones who should be staying somewhere else. Prez needs to realize where they are located , sprout a pair & stop letting a few ugly old gringas write thier phuckin' policies. As for the rude oglers in the eateries ... On 4 seperate occasions , I took my date by the hand and joined our new "friends" at thier table for some educational conversation. I phuckin' love doing that! Guys, we spend more $ in that general area than other types of tourists. Most of them go elsewhere to spend thiers. The bussinesses around there should give us & our chicas a break from having to deal with such nonsense as a dress code. It's just not cool. 8)

Very easy answer Shawn4DelRey. Do not stay there. Sure they will miss all the dollars you drop there and will have to attract 100 cheap ass Eco- tourists to make it up.

But some how I think they will survive.

Everyone agrees that the new dress code policy is a real pain in the ass, but the solution is so simple, I can't imagine why no one has ever suggested it.

Why don't we all put the message out that we would be interested in purchasing or renting one of the those cheap plastic opaque raincoats for a buck or two. Once the word got out, I'm certain that there would be at least one or two guys selling them outside the front entrance to the Pres every night from 8:00pm to 1:00am. It would be an entrepreneurial dream for some industrious tico. I'm guessing even the security guards might have a friend or two who was interested in cashing in on this.

YO El lamero:

Good suggestion and old Circus is already addressing this issue. I contacted my "crack" staff of Cardboard Inns along with the Shoeshine Man and they are working dilligently on the matter.

Shawn4DelRey,
Although many of us disagree with their policies, I must respectfully disagree with your above quote. And I think that you would be very surprised to find out the truth about the Prez's occupancy rate, monger guests vs. tourist/family guests. Yeah, their chica policy sucks, but it's their policy, and they make the rules. Whether you want to believe it or not, there are a lot more people in CR that DON'T monger. Plus, there are a lot more hotels in town besides the Prez. My dos colones..........

I don't doubt they have more families than mongers...I know they do. I just don't think the actual complainers even come close to the # of mongers. Most tourists realize they are in a 3rd world nation and that prostitution is viewed differently. One other point... I wonder how many of the "others" ever go on the internet (or anywhere else) and reccomend this fine establishment to thousands of other people? My guess is .. not many IF any.

I am sure they do realize that however that does not mean they are wiling to see it up close and personal in their hotel with or without their K*ds.

Knowing about it and seeing it up close and personal are two different matters. They may go to a strip club back home but they are not taking the wife and K*ds with them.

Could be the case ID. Most likely though, the few who have made it an issue are old, fat & ugly gringas who are jealous of all these sexy , young , beautiful girls. They know they never looked that good in thier miserable lives. Isn't that pathetic? We can't get away from these pigs & thier opinions even in paradise!

That is pure conjecture at very best or as my legal friends would put it "assuming facts not entered as evidence". However if that rationalization makes you feel better than go for it amigo.

Glad to see that you at least took my suggestion seriously. I AM serious. Why waste time talking about things we can't change, i.e. the minds of the management of the Presidente, and concentrate on things we can change.

I bought one of those knee length opaque vinyl raincoats in the Mercado Central last year for about 40 cents, so there is no reason some tico couldn't make a couple of bucks a night selling or renting them out to our poor undressed chica roommates. The quality is insignificant since they only need to last long enough to walk thru the lobby to the elevators and down again once.

Or maybe I've just been staring into my empty Centenario bottle too long again.

Amen to that brother. Very simple solution. Those who feel that the Presidente can not live without monger business will soon see if they are correct. Their staying somewhere else will either bring the Presidente to their knees and force a change of policy or will make some other hotel operator very happy with the increased business.

From the sticky thread-

can't wait until they go out of business. They sre going to be a family hotel. What a joke.

Hope it's not true, but do you guys really believe the hotel will go broke without us? The Hotel Pres. is now on Travelocity, Expedia and Orbitz getting 65.00 minimum for rooms and also available in package deals, this is why they are so busy.

Maybe they have decided they can get along without offering us discounted rooms and dealing with the hassles of mongers/putas on the premises. That truly would be a shame, :( look forward to Admin1's response after meeting with mgmt. this week...
