First off let me say it was nice meeting you and too bad we couldn't hang out together longer over a few beers. I know you were busy with Katrina. Too bad it didn't work out. Okay now back to my post. I was wondering what you offered Katrina and what her reply was to you offer.

It's interesting to me when you hear gringos always saying that all the chicas want is a green card, because from my experience none of the Ticas I met want to move to the US. Some said they would like to visit but that's it. Also interesting, is whenever I asked Ticas if they were interested in learning English a lot of them replied, "for what?" In Mexico you meet a lot of Mexicans trying to speak english and they all want to come to the US. What's up with the Ticas?

I'm just trying to figure out how these Ticas think about gringos making offers and why they don't take them up on there offers.

IMHO… I think they don’t want to leave their country and families, but just desire the standard of living that we have, and take for granted…

Medobrew, i'm not sure if i agree that they desire the standard of living we have... a lot of them hear the stories from gringos about not being happy in the US and that's why they come to Costa Rica to be happy... even though it's only for a short period of time. They have to think, "they have everything and they're still not happy." I believe they just want enough to eat and take care of their bebes.

Also have to consider that it's probably also a fantasy on their part regarding having a realationship with a gringo who lives in the US. How many gringos do you think promised the chicas the world but upon returning to US forgot about them after a few week? It's happened. I know a chica who quit working because a gringo told her he didn't want her working, and she and her baby almost starved to death because she was not making any money and he did not send her any either. She sold off some of her personal property and borrowed money from friends and family waiting for him to send money but he never did and now she is back to work, forced to work extra hours to pay everyone back. She mentioned how difficult it was for her to face her friends and family after promising to pay them back right away... also told them all about the gringo and his promises.

I think things would probably be different if you lived in Costa Rica and met a chica (working or non-working), it's easier for them to take you seriously. I met a lot of chicas that told me they would love to hook up with me, only if I lived in Costa Rica. Otherwise it was a waste of their time. They want to go out and spend the day with you not with other Ticas and their novios.
