I'll be down next Sunday for a week and I'm going to get my Doctor to prescribe me some antobiotics and start taking them Thursday.

Muff, Why take antibiotics before you have symptoms. Most antibiotics will screw up your digestion for awhile. I take a Z Pack or two with me whenever traveling abroad (http://www.drugs.com/zithromax.html). It is powerful antobiotic and the minute I feel something coming on I take the Zpack and it has stoped it in its tracks. Last trip a favorite came down with the crud. I gave her the 3 day Z pack. She was back to her happy accomadating self in no time but, as you know, it didn't help much with her spelling.

If you want to take something in advance as a preventative you might try ZiCam which is heavu in zinc and helps to ward off the crud. The zinc is also good for the leche  .

Have to agree with that. Overuse of antibiotics has led to an increase in drug resistance that has rendered some older antibiotics basically useless.

I think that is a better course of action to take.

Hey Smoothie...

Thanks for the advice... you too ID.
I will check it out and I aalthough I do appreciate the concern for the stomach... 40% was lost a while back and it has never acted right anyway since then.

I like the zinc helping la leche production. Never knew that... Tomorrow I'll to the Commissary to pick up some! Mi Flaca will like that!

However, I will still bring the antibiotics.... Just in case!
What the hell, most of my meds are free.

How's things going with you? Set a wedding date yet? ROTFRLMAO

Take good care.

I've been taking an Rx vitamin and mineral supplement called Glutofac-MX for the past three years. The daily dosage consists of two caplets: the pink one is vitamins and the other, a purple one, is the mineral supplement. Since taking Glutofac, I've caught only one cold in the past 3 years (and it wasn't in CR). I also get an annual flu shot in the fall. Knock on wood, these treatments work for me.

Every sgl guy I have spoken with was either sick by the end of SB weekend or upon return to the states.....

That was a bad weekend for me. I came down with a terrible cold a couple days before I flew down to CR for Superbowl weekend. As many of you remember, I was sick as ph*cking dog the entire weekend. Upon return, I went to the doctor to find out that I had Strep Throat. It kicked my ass for 2 full weeks. :(

It also took some of the air out of my sails that weekend. My libido was in slow motion the entire weekend. I never realized that having a cold would put a damper on your sex drive. But it did. I had my favorita Colombiana with me the whole weekend, ready and willing. But I only hit it once a day. Truly a depressing weekend, health wise....

Anytime you are less than 100% it can dampen your sex drive but you were diagnosed with,

A strep throat is a lot more serious and debilitating than a cold. Before the introduction of antibiotics in the 1940's strep throat was a killer in many cases for those who contracted it.

Just to add to my question regarding chicas with gripa, i was speaking in general terms and should have noted that because a lot of replies have mention working-chicas.

my novia is not a working-girl and gripa affects all types of chicas and chicos as well. I was just trying to better understand why they seem to get sick alot. My novias whole family is suffering from gripa at the moment. Her brother owns, for lack of a better term, a sweatshop and it seems most of the employees are affected as well. come to think about it, is it really a sweatshop when he is employing locals to work for normal, Tico wages? I wonder...

Before one of my trips, i felt a cold coming on and thought, "Phuck if I want to be sick in Costa Rica!" I remembered a friend of my brothers had mentioned something about an African-American co-worker had turned him on to some type of medication which kicks the shit out of whatever sickness you may be coming down with. I called him and he picked some up for me at one of those spanish pharmacias in chicago and damn if it didn't stop it dead in it's tracks. I had a hell of a time in Costa Rica.

Thanks Irish.
I've never given it much thought. I very rarely get sick, and I'm always horny as a sailor. But I just couldn't seem to get very "motivated" that weekend. I mean.....she was there.......waiting and wanting to take care of all my desires...... every day and every night......but it seemed that my main desire was to just relax. I was (physically) drained all weekend.

I honestly can't remember there ever being a time in my life, where I could care less whether or not I had sex. That's never been in my vocabulary. I love sex! I've always loved sex! I want sex all the time! But now I know. It doesn't matter how big and tough we are. If you're sick, it'll take you down a notch, like it or not. :(

Since we all know that you can not cure a cold and all we can do is treat the symptoms, I encourage the use of TheraFlu. It's a powder mixed with warm water and drank as a toddy.
That stuff will really help diminish cold symptoms.

However, I saw how you felt Mikey-B, and all I can say is I was glad it wasn't me. Having Strep Throat is no picnic and you were not a happy camper... even if the Steelers won and you got a good chunk of one of the football pools... you lucky phucker!
Glad you're back to your old self!

Last year my Tica regular was living w/me at Vista Linda. Occaisionally I would walk inside or outside the apartment in bare feet. She would have a cow and tell me I was going to get Gripa.

I laughed......... until I actually got it. It was nasty!

Could she have been right or was it a coincidence?

I will admit I have phoned my Tica three times now.

Always I hear about the Fria Ola that is in San Jose,
But this same girl had a hard time dealing with the heat on the coast.
