First, let me introduce myself. I am El Qbano from Atlanta, GA and went to CR last July for the first time. I will be returning May 27 to June 4th and staying at the Presidente so I hope to hook up with some of you there.

So, I just joined VIP today (after reading the info on this board for a couple months) and it is a total no brainer to join. Here's why...

First, you get to post (like this) and can also see the hot pictures of the Ticas.

Second, My cost for the Presidente through Expedia would be $75 + 16.39 percent tax per night ($87.29 per night). Direct on Presidente website it is $81.47 per night with tax. With the VIP discount it is $59.36 per night with tax. For the 8 nights I am staying there that is a savings of $176.88 over Presidente direct and $223.44 over Expedia. That's 3 - 4 Del Rey Tica sessions or 5 - 6 MP sessions with change left over!

Third, I am also saving $15 bucks on an ATV tour down there.

So, by spending $39 I will save $191.88 Minimum on my trip. Pretty hard to beat that! :D

So, thanx for this great board and website and I look forward to more postings. BTW - I am fluent in Spanish and last time I went to CR I spoke Spanish 90 percent of the time. The Gringos all thought I was a local and the Ticas didn't believe I was from the US!

You missed the most important reason in my opinion,

Your membership dollars help support the board which enables it to function. As you noted,

Think of all the information that you gleaned from the posts that will help you in your trips to CR. All the discounts are great, the information is priceless.

Welcome aboard.

Welcome to the board El Qbano. Look forward to hearing about your adventures in Disneyland! I'll miss you by a couple days. I won't be getting into town until June 8th. Maybe next time.
Again, welcome.

Bienvenido El Qbano,

Yes, you're right. Joining VIP is a no-brainer. I look forward to meeting you someday and practicing my Spanish... unlike you, I could never pass for a local...

Salud, amor, pesetas y el tiempo para gastarlas, y lo que es mas importante...

I'll echo the above post. I've read the board from time to time, and will head to SJO for my 2nd trip. I just got my VIP membership and appreciate all of the info on here.

The member discounts were what made me join. I have been to CR before, and one of my friends in the upcoming trip has an English-speaking Tico who will show us around.

The discounts for places like Kumar and ZB make the membership very attractive. I told a friend of mine who's going on the trip and he said he'd probably join.

I'll be at the DR 3/17-20. It's just a 4-day weekend, but I plan to enjoy every minute!

I just became a VIP as well. I have been reading the board for a little while, and feel I have already received 10x the value of the fee in information. I just felt it was the right thing to support this fine web site. The discounts, pictures, map, and other benefits are just icing on the cake, and I seriously would have joined anyway if they were not offered. The core group of regulars in here seem like a great bunch as well. I consider myself lucky however to have been experienced in these types of internet forums so I did not make the common rooky mistakes with the search feature.

Thanks guys for a great site!

That is the best reason given for becoming a VIP that has been posted here in awhile.

Congratulations for putting it so succinctly MR.
