T-Bird,

Hey...no offense. As I said above, you got the standard newbie ration of shit, but I did attempt to answer your question. :)

Bottom line is: You won't have any trouble getting whatever boner pills you need.

All newbies here get a little abuse when they ask a question that makes it appear that they haven't bothered to do their homework before asking. Consider it a fraternity hazing ritual...and again, welcome to the brotherhood. :DD

There wasn't really any hate mail, but your question did act as a springboard for further discussion about getting prescription drugs in Costa Rica; you did us all a favor by asking your "lazy-ass" question. Thanks for that. :D

...SO SORRY I ASKED THE question didn't mean to stir up so much hate mail.........just wanted to ask a question. For those you that just answer the question with out all the "extra imput "it might be better if you said NOTHING at all

Hate mail ? What the hell are you talking about? You asked a question, and you received the answer, PLUS much more applicable information. And this information is not only for you, but it also might help out one of the other 6,000 members. With an attitude like this, I'm sure you'll get a lot of help from members in the future.

This board does not revolve around you. There were no responses that were 'that' bad. If you actually think that you've been flamed by the prior posts, then I would advise you to do a couple things: A) Grow a thicker skin..... and B) Stay away from CR. They'll eat you up and spit you out newbie.

In addition, you might want to download some type of "spell check" software on your computer.

...........and I'm in a GOOD mood !!!

Oh my... Mikey, are you feeling a little stressed this morning?

Go back and compare my reply to the newbie to yours. I hope you didn't scare the poor li'l fella right off CRT.

T-Bird, welcome to the good, the bad, and the ugly... :P Re-read this thread, and you'll see (as Mikey B. so clearly points out) that your question has generated a lot of great information, for you and for other members. Here's what we've learned:

1. Drugs such as Viagra are readily available, usually without a prescription.

2. Prices vary widely between pharmacies

3. Pharmacies are called "farmacias" in Spanish.

4. Some farmacias may require a prescription or consultation fee before dispensing Viagra.

5. Generic soldenefol citrate (Viagra) is available, is cheaper and is effective.

6. El Ciego is a butthole who likes to give a little shit to newbies, even while he's being helpful.

7. Mikey B. doesn't pull punches when he's got something to say. Good for him, and in the long run, good for the newbie.

That about sum it up? One more time T-Bird... Welcome to CRT. :) Now go do some research!

I tell you, one of the most unfortunate experiences in my life was running into that cad El Ciego and one of many his nefarious companions, Circus.

One day, after bumping into them in the lobby of the Presidente, when I made the bitter mistake of asking them for advice on arranging a Day Tour, they quickly assured me that the Tour Desk at the Del Rey was the place to go (I believe now that they often lay in wait for innocents abroad such as myself to play their cruel sport, but I digress)…

Something about “The Tour Desk here has it’s head up it’s ass” claimed the latter….while, I swear, I heard the former mutter under his fetid breath (my advice is to stand slightly behind and to the side when engaging in intercourse with this lout) “and so do you”.

Well, I innocently followed these wolves to the Del Rey where we were greeted by a scowling security detail that informed me that while I was welcome, my present company was under probation for ‘corrupting the pristine atmosphere of this staid establishment”.

Unfazed, they blithely remarked that their ‘home office’ was nearby and if I accompanied them, I would be provided all the services necessary for a wonderful, wonderful Day Tour. “Why, we’ll even throw in a genuine Cuban cigar. You’ll Love IT”, they boasted.

I should have taken my leave after observing street urchins, fruit vendors and the public in general recoiling in horror (some of them darting into heavy traffic to avoid this pair of suspect mores).

Presently, however, we entered a verdant park with lush foliage, many benches and seemingly interesting groups of very attractive young ladies.

“Well, here we are” they said as we approached a disarrayed collection of cardboard boxes, “Over there are the ‘facilities’”, they said while pointing to a large, empty pickle jar half filled with a yellow liquid and some sort of brown lump floating in it.

I politely declined their feeble attempt of hospitality and replied “I wish to see some spewing volcanoes”.

“Oh, I got your ‘spewing volcano’ alright” replied the first above-mentioned sinner. “And here comes your ‘tour guide’, Joesy. IT has your ‘Cuban cigar’ as promised and will show you all the ‘spewing volcanoes’ you can handle”.

My ‘tour guide’, Joesy, while oddly fetching from a distance, strangely reminded me of a Penn State linebacker up close.

And so, my protests to no avail, I was led away to an horrific experience of such magnitude that to this day is too painful (literally) to discuss.

I can only imagine if the ‘Cuban cigar’ had come with a ‘blue pill’. I may still be ‘smoking’ that bad boy.

I concur, never, never ask these sordid examples of humanity for advice….especially on the topics of ‘cigars’ or ‘spewing volcanoes’.

C-Dude, you exaggerate. First of all, those cardboard boxes were deluxe, complete with ventilation and Circus' old blowup doll to use as a friendly mattress. Secondly, that pickle jar wasn't the facilities (those were located behind the third bush from the left). The Pickle Jar was "Sopa de mierda," a local delicacy.

Josie is built like a line backer, but I've never seen anyone smoke a Cuban with as much zest and relish as you did, bro...must have learned to appreciate a good Morazan Smoke while at sea all those years.

Don't blame Circus or me. We were just trying to help.

C-Dude,
That was some funny sh*t!!! ROTFLMAO  . I needed that.

TBird,
Now I'm in a much better mood after reading C-Dude's post. Let me first apologize to you for being a little 'brash' in my last post. I just happened to read it before I finished my 1st cup of coffee this morning, and it (kind of) got in my crawl. Besides that, I left CR exactly 16 days ago, and I haven't had a hot little latina since!

With any membership that has grown to over 6,000 people, you take a chance of getting over 6,000 different opinions to questions that you may ask. Overall, the members of CRT will always try to help a newbie. This is an outstanding site, and Admin has done a great job in keeping everything going in the right direction. But you must realize that there are so many tools on this site to help you with many of your questions / concerns.

The most important thing is to READ as much as possible. By the time you've finished, you'll be dizzy as hell, but you'll have a much better grasp on the "big picture" in CR.

Welcome to the board, and I look forward to meeting you on the 'other side' some day. (Thanks again C-Dude for the laugh).

Mikey-B

Ok, I'll buy that. No more Quantum Physics! From now on, I'll just apply the K.I.S.S. method. 8)
Pura Vida,

While I still could be considered a "newbie" because I've been to CR only once and that was for just 48 hours... I believe that I now know quite a bit about CR and can confidently move about without much concern.

Question: How did I get to that point?
Answer: I read and read and read and when I did not understand something I asked and asked and asked and accepted every answer that was provided by the CRT veterans.

Why? because they were there before me and although speaking Spanish fluently does help greatly, I had no idea what I was getting myself into and had to depend on the CRT for guidance.

So, do not take anyone's comments to heart. Everyone in the CRT means well. Some just get a little tied of seeing the same questions over and over. These are questions that are easily answered if you do lots of reading in some of the CRT boards such as The Newbie Section and Trip Reports. There is a sh*tfull of information in them.

Good luck and enjoy Paradise!
