D2864,
You can choose to ignore the facts but I suggest you do more research on these subjects before you try to debate me.

From the State of the Union address:
Tonight I ask you to pass legislation to prohibit the most egregious abuses of medical research: human cloning in all its forms, creating or implanting embryos for experiments, creating human-animal hybrids, and buying, selling, or patenting human embryos. Human life is a gift from our Creator -- and that gift should never be discarded, devalued or put up for sale. (Applause.)

D128...

What if both parties are rotten to the core? What if both are simply two sides of the same base-metal coin, two management teams vying for control of Slavery Incorporated? Just a thought.

As far as your criticism of Wit's post goes, he can only report what he has experienced.

As far as military policy regarding prostitutes, since Vietnam the official, universal line has been that soldiers/sailors/Marines are not to patronize prostitutes. The level of actual enforcement depends on the quality of military/civilian relations in a given area, whether or not some brass is visiting, etc. That's not the issue of the original post, which was a warning to visitors to a particular website, that if they inadvertently find information about und***ge prostitutes, they could be harrassed or prosecuted. With the recent, largely paranoid and arguably extralegal policies of the current administration, any of us could be losing both Constitutional protection and the so-called "freedom" so highly touted by both parties.

Someday, somewhere we should discuss what really happened on 9-11, the relationships between all politicians and corporate America, or anything else political. However, perhaps we should (myself included) refrain from politics and get back to meat and heat in tiquicia.

The human cloning... I can't even go there because it is too controversial and so just not worth it. One thing though - everyone knows W's based is against this so is it any surprise? I doubt it.

All of the links except one are about Ch*ld sex - I didn't think anyone was against enforcement of this and I hope another administration would make it an even higher priority than it is now. In general, I think Ch*ld sex is illegal around the world so why would we as a country want to perpetrate this? Men do this and then run home to freedom in the USA, is that right? Would we want it to be right?

I couldn't get to the "estripes" link so I'm not sure what it is about. I did get to the "military" link and it is just an article about a "proposed" change, not an actual change. Over the years, how often do you think this subject has been covered in an article? I think many times. Articles come and go depending on what is happening in the world. Let me know when this becomes offical policy all over the world for our military or becomes a part of the UCMJ. Your initial statement was without qualification so I was only trying to get to the bottom of it - real or fluff?

I hear you on this one, but so far there is few gov'ts that are vastly better. I agree that our way isn't perfect by no means, but it is a hell of a lot better than most other countries.

Check out: http://www.transparency.org/policy_and_ ... s/cpi/2005

We are 17 from the top so we aren't perfect, but we aren't 158 on the list either.

More people want to come to the USA than leave the USA so maybe you are just a hell of a lot smarter than the rest of us and so you see a different truth? You see that most of America are just suckers because most are wholeheartedly accepted the "slavery incorporated." I don't even know what the "slavery incorporated" is so sorry.

I guess my biggest "fault" is that I'm optimistic and I feel very lucky to be an American. I just have a hard time complaining... I feel guilty complaining since we Americans have a lot more opportunity than the rest of the world.

**********

Okay guys - I hope neither of you think that I'm trying to be mean or disrespectful - anyone that knows me personally knows that I'm just your average joe nice guy as I'm sure both of you are as well.

D2864,
I'm not religious or political.

I do see where things are heading and I don't like it. You took a very narrow viewpoint of my original post. I suggest you go back and read it again and tell me where any of it is inaccurate.

FWIW, I'm retired military and held a TS/SCI security clearance.

As I said, do some research. I suggest you start with these:
Separation of church and state.
Roe vs. Wade
Patriot Act.

I'll provide the estripe article but I won't be wasting anymore time on this.

Troops get word of 'no paying for sex' order

By Steve Mraz and Jason Chudy, Stars and Stripes
European edition, Tuesday, January 10, 2006

Red lights in certain, seedy districts of European cities have come to mean anything but stop.

But since the Department of Defense has specifically made it a crime for U.S. troops to patronize prostitutes worldwide, those red lights could mean trouble for U.S. servicemembers.

Even though the formal order came in an Oct. 14 presidential executive order, the news was still reaching some troops stationed in Europe. In fact, two of the three services reached said there was no formal program to tell servicemembers of the change.

“It’s nothing that’s new,” said U.S. Army Europe spokesman Bob Purtiman.

Soliciting a prostitute has always been part of the Uniform Code of Military Justice’s sexual misconduct and always has been against good order and discipline, Purtiman said. With the presidential executive order, it’s just now found in another part of the UMCJ, thus, there is no need to brief soldiers in Europe, he said.

Farther south in Naples, Italy, sailors stationed there said they were not aware of the order.

“I didn’t know about it, but I’m not surprised to see it,” said Petty Officer 2nd Class Jimmy Fields with Naval Forces Europe. Soliciting prostitutes, Fields said, goes against good leadership.

Neither Naval Forces Europe nor Commander, 6th Fleet have formal programs to make sailors aware of the new order, but it has been covered in Navywide training programs, said Senior Chief Petty Officer Steven Galvan.

“In addition, the Navy has created an online course to enhance basic awareness of the prohibitions against trafficking in persons,” he said.

Galvan said the command is unaware of any cases of sailors in Europe being charged with soliciting a prostitute since the October order. Commands, he said, would normally handle these cases in a nonjudicial setting, and no requirement exists to report these individual cases up the chain of command.

Asked on Monday about how the Air Force was letting airmen know of the new order, officials at U.S. Air Forces in Europe failed to respond by deadline.

Airman 1st Class Joshua Van Ness, who is stationed at Ramstein Air Base, Germany, said he was unaware of the legal change but said it will not affect him because he does not partake in such services.

“I didn’t know if it was legal or not legal in the first place,” said Van Ness. “I just know that [prostitutes are] around here.”

On some evenings, cars or motor homes with red lights illuminating the inside can be seen parked on roads outside U.S. installations in the Kaiserslautern military community. In Germany, prostitution is legal as long as prostitutes have a license, said Christiane Lautenschläger, a spokeswoman with the Kaiserslautern Polizei.

But Sgt. 1st Class Anthony Austin, 39, a soldier with the 100th Area Support Group in Grafenwöhr, Germany, said troops should stay away from such places.

“If you are married, you shouldn’t be visiting no prostitutes,” he said. “If you are not married you shouldn’t be either. It is called safe sex.”

When I talked of balance, evening things out over the course of time, it applies to the above. One could easily argue that both sides of the house take things too far when they are in power and the above are examples of that. When Americans have had too much, they'll give power to the other side and things will start to change. This has happened over and over again to give us balance between the two parties. Remember, I said that too much of one thing is not a good thing so it is just a matter of time before things swing back the other way for some balance (how soon or far in the future that happens, who knows?).

That article is funny! I'll admit that what you wrote initially was right on! I do think that some of the people quoted had a broad interpretation of the UCMJ. They could make a case against someone, but even in the military I'm not sure a "jury of one's peers" would convict another member for sleeping with a hooker. It could happen (anything can happen once in a while), but I'm not sure any JAG would file charges considering many of one's peers have probably committed the same "crime." (crime... laugh!) I could sense that even though it was an "order" it isn't a serious order without any effort to get the word out. This order doesn't seem like it would be too high on a commander's enforcement list.

As for a narrow view of your statement - sorry, but I'm a software engineer and so I tend to zoom in instead of zooming out. :)

I don't have an awful lot to say on this issue except that Boys Will Be Boys. It was like that when I started mongering in the 1950's before a lot of you were even born.

It is against the laws of nature to station an 18 year old in some foreign country (whether of not we are at war) and expect them not to find a release for their raging hormones. Maybe they were virgins when they entered the service, but 99% were not by the time they finished their overseas assignment.

In Japan, my personal country of expertese, 5,000 seaman poured off the aircraft carriers for liberty in Yokosuka after 6 months at sea, and 4,999 immediately headed for the legalized brothels. It was totally against the UCMJ then as it is now, but our military understands that turning a blind eye is far more logical than having a ship full of frustrated disgruntled sailors.

It was my pleasure to serve as a wingman for a Naval Corpman whose official job was inspecting the bars and bordellos of the Red Zone. Establishments that didn't meet certain standards of health were put OFF LIMITS and visitors there were dealt with harsely. Every provider in those zones was provided with a health checkup EVERY WEEK (at our governments expense) to insure that the rate of VD was kept to a minimum.

By now I've lost most of you with my ancient tales, but in reading the thread I was reminded of a funny incident that occurred in Tokyo. I was in the midst of enjoying one of the best nights of my life, when at 2:00am two storm troopers Military Police officers pounded loudly on every door on the second floor of the bordello in which I was ensconced. I pulled on a pair of pants quickly and opened the door while my lady friend clutched a sheet around her.

The door across from me remained closed and the officer continued to pound loudly and threaten to break it down. Soon a balding, pot bellied gentleman in his 60's appeared at the door wearing only a pair of boxers. In his hand he held an identification badge that testitifed to the fact that he was General (name held to protect the guilty), the Judge Adjutant General of Camp Zama (then the largest Army post in Japan). The MP's blanched and practically dove down the stairs to get out. The General looked at me still quaking and said "Carry On Son".

I have had similar experiences twice. First time I came back from Thailand in Detroit. Female told me guys not in a group coming from Thailand were subject to search. She was very nice. Pulled out a photo of a girl and I that I bought at the disco and asked if that was my girlfriend. I said yes. She passed me by but was very nice.

Came back from DR once when I traveled on a birth certificate about 18 months ago and got pulled. This young guy started aggressively asking me why I was in DR. I said to see a friend. He immediately went the girlfriend route. I did not push back just calmly answered and he passed me.

Very uncomfortable experiences.

I always remove my pic card from my camera and snap a few of scenery on the cameras internal card just to avoid more embarassment.

"Software Engineer"? Isn't that 90s-speak for programmer?

If so, I've been one for over 24 years.

Admin, I must respectfully disagree.

While this thread has gone a bit overboard on the political aspects affecting us all, the core issue here is monger safety and anonymmity.

Just as we discuss crime and condoms, this issue (surveillance) does indeed hold implications for hobbyists.

If any government, including our own (U.S. and/or Canada) becomes too zealous in its efforts to control our moral behavior, any of us could face persecution (sic) and become involved in legal problems for participating in what is a legal activity in Costa Rica.

Yes, political discussions on this thread have gone overboard (my fault also), and I understand your desire to focus discussions on the pleasures of travel to Costa Rica, but the discussion here has not been a total waste and in fact may benefit some members, particularly those among us who are currently servicemen in the Armed Forces. Now that the UMCJ has been reinforced by Executive order, those who currently serve our country need to be made aware of possible implications.

Furthermore, the discussion of treatment of single male travelers returning from mongering destinations is very germane to this forum; CRTers who are harassed for having photos of legal companions and who are given the third degree by Immigration should be free to discuss these topics, if only as a means of preventing trouble.

Yes, it's your board/forum. However, I would hope that you and everyone else here can get past the political hyperbole to the useful informatoion contained in this thread.

Thank you. I write with respect...

My job is 30% programming and 70% preparing to program (a ton of meetings) so for some reason this falls into the software engineer category vs. application programmer I II or III.

I agree el ciego. The topic and post turned into a very informative and interesting banter. Good Job! I hate to hear about the situation with our miliary not being able to get laid on payday. That cant be good for moral or recruiting. Sound like their saying yes to gays, no to mongers.

I have no problem with valid points being discussed as this is a valid thread, but going off on a political tangent will not be tolerated... That is all I am saying.... Keep it on cue and we have no issues.

I think the website this guy is referring to is www.worldsexguide.com , but I am sure the government is reading all these sites. Who gives a shit, we are not doing anything wrong. It is not our fault that we have to leave our country to have fun with the bitches. American broads are about as much fun a poke in the eye with a sharp stick. I have been reading the wsg site for years, let the govt waste their time. If any of us are dumb enough to say in our reviews that we went to another country and were doing blow like Tony Montana or other illegal stuff then we might have a problem, but for crying out loud it is no reason for us to worry about it. When they ask me what I was in CR for I just say vacation, whats the big deal. We could say none of your business but then they flag your passport and will go out of their way to ruin your day. Most of them hate their job anyway, when I got caught coming back from Cuba via Toronto the customs guy was cool as shit and all he wanted to know was if the bitches were as hot as he had heard and if the beaches were really that nice. He even told me he thought the embargo was bullshit. He had to confiscate my Cohiba's but he let me keep my Havana club rum. Bottom line, if you see that the agent you are gonna talk to is a broad who looks like she might have a dick, figure she will give you the business but just go with the flow. Hell, tell her you were there for the booze, broads, and bl..., what the f.... can the bitch do. Whoooooaaaaahhhhh.
