Read most of the posts on Jaco hotels but could use some advice on trip planning.

The Best Western at 80 + tax a night looks really great but no reviews
Copa wants 129 with discount and the reviews are mixed
Tangerí wants 87 inc tax not much info

I am taking sand to the beach so some monger bonuses will not apply. Any advice is great.
Thanks

Check out a place called Canciones Del Mar. I've lived in Jaco for six years and had some friends stay there a few months ago. The rooms are really suites with a nice little balcony. It's a gem that not too many people know about and right on the beach. Think it would be in the $100 range.

I stayed at Best Western for 1 night in December. my wing was under construction for expansion. The room was near and clean , but fairly old amenities. The breakfast buffet was good with a nice view. The Del Mar (on the beach next to the police station was under construction for total renovation.

Still undecided the best western looks the nicest on the web site. But here is what the Copa said today:

I really do not think we are getting any discount at the Copa. I emailed 3 weeks ago the site and asked for rate info in May with CRT discount. This should be the off season. Barbara quoted me 129.00 for Ocean suite. Not bad price if it is truely on the ocean and the room is nice. Today I called and said I saw the web site was interested in May what do they have. She quoted regular price for ocean suite 129.00. I never mentioned anything about CRT on the phone. Can we get a better price when we check in? Or is the no chica fee the only bonus to being a VIP member? Just asking because I will probably pay the rate based on the more positive reviews I have seen v.s. the fewer negative reviews. And the fact that supposedly the beach is at you balcony.

I stumbled upon a condo rental in Jaco right behind the Sunrise breakfast place that is probably the best place that I have stayed at in Jaco. It is a two bedroom each with it's own full bath and bath downstairs, nicely appointed, relatively new, two story with balcony facing the ocean, three TVs, washer/dryer. The master suite has an impressive display on the wall of a marlin, dorado, tuna, etc and an excellent bed. Furniture thru out the place is very nice and a basic kitchen setup. It is 1/2 block from Monkey, one block from Beatle, 1/2 block walk from ocean, 1/2 block from Pacific Bistro--very convenient, gated location. Two guys could comfortably stay there and it definately impresses the chicas.
High season it is $130/ low $100 per nite. Contact Cristina at 345-3460 or 643- 3559. She also has two houses on the road going down to the Copa that a deceased friend used to own. I do not know the prices on these, but they were very nice as I remember them

The best western does not cater to Chicas. Ther are many great places to stay and this board is the best place to find one. Check out the Jungle bar and tell Jenny I said hi. She is the owner and a x del ray bartender for 12 years, its also the only bar in Jaco with AC.
