I hadn't been in the DR much in the last 8-10 months until about two weeks ago. Maybe it's just me, but the place has changed a lot in the last few years. Was out with a friend last night. Quality wasn't great but there were some definite lookers. It seemed to me that the only attractive girls in there were totally disinterested in being there. They didn't seem like they were even trying, just wandering around with scowls on their faces. I hesitate to say this but it seems like these days the only girls playing, smiling, having fun and enticing the clientele are not so attractive. I know beauty is in the eye of the beholder though. A friend I was with saw this girl he was interested in. He asked her very politely the first time if she spoke English. She mumbled something and hardly even broke her stride. Well, he was interested and persistent, so I went over to one of the bars and politely told her in Spanish my friend was interested and she would like to know how much. She gave a price and didn't talk or anything. I tried to chat a little and get a smile out of her. Finally told her my friend wanted to go and she said ok. She asked where the hotel was, and when I told her I was getting the car and would pick them up, she insisted on a taxi... I guess I can see that. Two strange guys. What is up with the Del Rey attitude these days? Are they looking for some elite tricks and if so, how do they find who is who without talking them up a bit. Do any of you guys that live here or have been coming for years see any difference? Could be that I was seeing the Del Rey through a bottle a lot in the past. But I don't think that is totally it.

I live here and stop by often in the BM. The colobians are all business and demand I said demand a $100/ for one hour. They do not like to leave the are only close hotels and get you off in the shortest time and back to the BM. I have seen guys go up the elevator and the chica back down in less than 30 min.. There has been a kind of code among the hookers to stay on the c-note and when others under cut this they are mad at them. I personally think the Nicas are the best more affectionate and a gf experience. Not clock watchers . Also to blame is the gringo who comes here with a bundle of cash and their viaga. They are buying the girl baileys and her girlfriends drinks, cig and going to Key Largo buying stuffed animals flowers like your in Disneyland. Ruining it for all. Remember the store clerk make a buck and hour. Fify bucks for a full sevice is plently.. There are many place around that charge 9,500 col for the girl and room..such as Arcades and many others. So yes what you are seeing is right and ruined.

Man, I remember back in the day if you made eye contact by mistake they pounced on you like raw meat. The only friendly girls I saw last night I wouldn't have wanted to take home. I wasn't hunting, just there with a friend. Half of them are wasting their time, don't know why they just don't stay home. Word to you guys that have any decent regulars, KEEP THEM. I don't want to depend on the DR anymore for my "special" occasions when I treat myself and get a hottie.

I noticed several flaky chicas a few weeks ago Thirdworld. Tried to chat up a couple different ones and they acted like they just weren't interested, like are you chicas WORKING or just hanging around for the fun of it? I can see them maybe being tired of the scene but acting uninterested in even talking makes no sense. One was a hot young Dominicana, saw Bulldog attempting to have a conversation with her the next night and asked him if he was having any luck, think he said "Not much." I grabbed one chica on the ass as she walked by and she responded like a gringa with a go-to-hell look, I thought she was gonna come back and kick me in the nutz or something, jeesh lighten up puta. Then there was the $50-$60 one that wouldn't come off 100, what a joke. I guess the busy season they can afford to have an attitude and hold out for the sucker bound to be checking in tonight at the HDR that'll pay her what she wants. I'm taking your advice and keeping the good ones to myself when I find them.

I don't know about busy season, but when i was there last week most of the chicas i talked to said business was terrible. In fact some of the chicas i know were staying home because they said it was a waist of their time, hanging out, bored and no work. I saw a lot of the same chicas hanging out all day, usually most chicas have a shift they prefer to work, this time it seemed like they were working doubles with no luck. I hung out with a group of about six chicas and only one had any luck after being there for at least five hours. Finally, i took a cute spinner up for some fun for $40.00. The chicas i was talking with seemed desperate to make a buck, no cien.

Try the following... introduce yourself, chat up a bit, then excuse yourself tell the chica your there with a buddy and just want to enjoy a few drinks, make your rounds, smile at her as you walk past and after a few tours, ask her if you could sit down 'cause you're tired and bored... chat some more and then ask her how much she charges... NO CIEN... because you are not like the other horny gringos, she will feel special that you want to hook up with her after telling her you were just there to hang out and enjoy a few beers. This works for me all the time.

Traylor Park, I felt like the geek at the dance who walks across the floor to ask a girl to dance and she just looks at you. I was talking to this girl and she made me feel like an idiot. Oh, and by the way, I've noticed a lot of the starting prices notched up to $150.

I am typing this from a computer at the DR. It´s early yet but don´t seem to see that many flat stomaches any more. Just don´t see too many babes. Maybe I´m just too picky these days. But most of these girls need to go on a diet as bad as I do...

I too felt a change in the air my last trip a month or so ago. In all the years previous I didn't feel this as much. I was wondering do I look older now or worse or are the chicas on more drugs these days & down from this?? They do it for money so why be there & turn off a guy so they get no business at all?? I agree with everyone’s assessment above my post. I hated to even look their way years ago like Thirdworld said they would go on the attack after you. Maybe we are bringing too many of our bad habits to CR & teaching them too much?

I really question whether this website is even good for what we do. On one hand we help educated about how to better maintain good service at a fair price which helps but on the other hand we are an advertisement for more Gringos to go & screw it all up. I guess you can't put the genie back in the bottle we just have to learn to live around it? But I don't like some of the new attitudes I have seen lately but still I seem to always find the types I look for which seem to be oblivious to the main scene.

Zippy, if it wasn't for this website, I would have bought the cien thing easily - this place has helped me to be disciplined and patient in hooking up with a chica.

But your point is well taken...this site was a deciding inspiration for me to go to CR, and the the time I spent with a chice, some other guy was losing out. OTOH, there seems to be plenty of talent to go around.

I've done one trip in June (green/rainy season) and one last month in tourist season. I've heard the chicas bitch at the lack of business, even though there were a helluva lot more guys around at the DR.

BUT...HOWEVER...when I chose a chica one time at the DR 2wks ago, and had a room there, when I paid the fee, the security guard had in his hand a pack of current cedulas in use around two inches thick. That's a lot of business.

It is a difficult job guys. They have to go through the same introduction conversation with each and every one of us and it has to be "just a bore for them" after so so so many. I think they probably also get feed up with guys that take up their time talking only to later walk away from them (I nearly did this last week because I wasn't feeling good, but my buddy said treat her right so I mustard up enough energy to finish the deal since she hung with me for 2 hours though I really didn't ask her to do that). I wouldn't expect them to have a great attitude considering what they are doing for a living and that most of them have been through some really hard times before getting to the HDR.

When they finally do get someone to the room, they probably feel like they've already spent enough time talking to you in the bar so they just want to cut and run. Some guys can get them to hang around, but I have a feeling that most often they cut and run on most guys.

I found no problem with quality however. I keep in mind that most of the slightly unattractive young ones with a little extra weight wouldn't sleep with me in the states so who am I to complain about the quality? I'm still getting candy that I can't have in the states. To me, it isn't as much about looks and body as it is about finding one that isn't going to hurry through the whole process.

They ask for 100, I say I never pay more than 60, some say okay 60 for you let's go and others say how about 80 and then I'll say how about 65 and often they say let's go, but depending on her attitude I'll say 70. Some walk away which is okay with me. This is not to mention that you can go to ZB for 40 and many in the SL are happy with 50.

I think we're too picky.

Why is business crappy if this is the busy or "high" season in CR?

I know another girl and she had her phone turned off and seems to be saying she couldn't afford to keep it on. For those that have been going down(to CR) for years, is this a cycle that occurs every so often or every year about this time or what? It's bad for all of us if there's a recession in their marketplace. We all want plentiful chicas at a fair price, not starving chicas with bad attitudes or that don't show up to work.

Ive been going to Costa Rica off-an-on since 1972! Ive never been inside the Del Rey and probably never will! I look for places where gringos dont go because they are cheaper and the chicas can actually get excited about going with a gringo (you MUST speak some spanish) I agree with another poster that the Nicas can be really sweet!!! later

maybe there's something in the water... because on my first trip, Sept 05, the chicas all seemed to have a smile on their face whenever you looked in their direction. now they all look bored. i know security has been hassling them a bit more than before, they were able to stand in groups along the walls, rails, etc and now it seems security chases them away if they stand in place for more than a second. I don't get it. Last week i saw a group of gringos standing by the rail between the casino and the tables where everyone sits down to eat. I remember the chicas used to line up against the rail and greet you as you walked into DR, not anymore. Only gringos standing around. Also, security doesn't care if a chica is talking to a gringo, he moves them, including the gringo, away.

This was brought up, my me and another CRT member, to one of the owners and he said he was going to talk to the manager/head of securtiy about the situation. That was in January, nothing seems to have changed.

The chicas i know seemed to be starving. in the past you would get an unattractive girl or two asking you for some plata so she could get something to eat, my last trip a lot of chicas i know asked me if i could invite them to eat at KL. Damn, i felt bad becasue these chicas have treated me like a king in their homes. These are chicas i know and have never been with for el amor. they said they don't have food for their bebes, don't want to be at the DR, and they feel stupid standing around looking like an idiot waiting for a gringo to invite them up.

I don't want hungry depressed chicas hanging out at the del rey, it's depressing. Maybe it's time we do something special for the chicas, don't know what but something like secretary's day for the little darlings. The mood definetly needs to change.

You are forgetting that CRT guys are only a small fraction of the guy population in CR. There is nothing we can do and I feel that there are better people to feel sorry for.

I have a feeling that the problem (if there really is a problem) is 2 sided - chicas have an attitude as well we have an attitude as well. When you first start going to CR, you are very excited, but as you take more and more trips the excitement wears thin and we're more on the defensive than on our maiden trip since we make typical mistakes and get taken advantage of and so both sides are on edge.

Well one thing I have heard for the last 3 or 4 years from the chicas is business is terrible so are they bitching to bitch or they can never get enough money to be satisfied? Maybe more guys are RE-PETERS & treating the chicas worse that keeps them with a pissy attitude. This attitude is not ingrained in the newbies so this is why I target them. The problem for many men is these do not speak English & if you have no communication this takes about half the fun away I would think.

I do know one thing over the past 2 to 3 years I am seeing more old drunks hanging around that have no intention of leaving with any of them they just like drinking & BSing with the guys. This does piss them off I have noticed.
