ONE OF THE MOST LUXURIOUS HOTELS IN THE COUNTRY - LOCATED NEXT TO MULTIPLAZA IN ESCAZU. A LONG TAXI RIDE TO THE DOWNTOWN ACTION AND I DOUBT SERIOUSLY IF THEY ARE MONGER OR CHICA FRIENDLY. MOSTLY BUSINESS TYPES.

If you don't mind paying up and want some luxury, I've stayed at the Melia Cariari a couple of times and found it to be a really upscale hotel...and it's also not too far from downtown.

Real Intercontinental & Cariari are equally high scale and are about equidistant from the gulch.

Of the two think I would choose the Intercontinental. It is across the street from Multi Plaza which has shopping, food court and multi screen movie for those times you want to spend some non mongering time. It is also a very short cab ride to Plaza Itskatzu or to Escazu for a variety of good restaurants.

A secondary benefit if you get a reaction to your vitamins and 'an erection lasts for more than 4 hours"  you are very close to Hospital CIMA

Thanks Gents for the feedback so far. I will be doin a recon mission on feb 9,10 at the Hotel, but just got a jr suite for those nights. I have 2 friends flying in on the 11th, then we a renting a car to see the country until the 16th. (1 of my friends has a house on the pac. coast) When we get back to SJ is when i will have the big suite, and i will get to show my other friend the TREATS of the city. It has been 8 yrs sense i was there, so I am sure it will be a new to me anyway. I hope this Hotel doesnt mind bringing girls to the room, cause I am out to show my friend a goodtime, a give him something he could only just amagine. (like my last visit there was). Just have to hope $$$ money talks at this Hotel, just like anywhere else! I hope to have a good party on Friday nite, the 17th. I just may not be able to go back to this Hotel afterwards...HAHA :D
Where is a good place to run into fellow CRT'rs and have a few drinks when I will be solo Feb 9 and 10th? Thanks again Gents!

Same place as always. The Blue Marlin Bar in the Hotel Del Rey. CRT happy hour there is a daily event at 5:00 PM. Tables by the windows facing the Monkey Bar.

I have stayed at both recently as well..

Found that the Cariari is very nice with a great pool and overall good food. They only have wireless internet in the lobby and some room are wired for high speed. decent rates ($130/nt) near pool.

The Intercontinental is by far the premier hotel in CR. Although very pricey from every angle, its a nice treat of luxury for a few nights with a chica. If you check in with her no problems, which is the case at every hotel.

I also recently stayed at the Marriott CR in SJo which I thought was fantastic. I rec'd a great rate and thought the service, food, rooms and overall experience was top notch and exected from Marriott. I will go back to Marriott, but not the other two. Check with different travel agencies, they usually have some leveage with the Marriott chain as a whole.
