This thread was so good I thought I would revive it for some of the newbies running around. Some of you CRT guys are very perceptive and quite wise. Ah, life's lessons. Confucious once said:

I tell ya, I have learned a lot about love, life, and women just by reading about 700 posts on CRT.

My suggested reading list for a would-be monger is the book The Evolution of Sexual Desire by David Buss. What we all experience boils down to biology. David Buss explains our behavior rather well based upon natural selection and the need to procreate.

I still don't know why women are masochists. Nobody has been able to explain that one as of yet.

David Buss is largely full of shit, because he ignores much of the social conditioning that is part of sexual desire. Like any other "consumer product," sexy women are marketed to us horny males.

None of us I suspect would be so hot for Latinas if it wasn't for media exposure of Salma Hayek, Jennifer Lopez or the girls of RBD/Rebelde on Univision.

He is also spouting nonsense by attempting to reduce the entire ero-romantic experience to biology and evolution, ignoring the spiritual (yes, spiritual) aspects of man-woman coupling, and ignores the cosmic dichotomy between women and men. He writes brilliantly, but I must disagree with many of his conclusions.

Furthermore, I don't think any of us has lost our way. On the contrary, many of us now face life with a new clarity. We now understand that we don't have to suffer the sad side-effects of American materialism and feminism, and can enjoy real passion with women who are naturally hard-wired to enjoy sex and romance (and easy money).

Why are women masochists? Wow, what a generalization! You want to find masochists, look to the monger who "falls in love" with a hardcore whore and then tries to "save" her from her life. Now that's masochism.

I'm almost to the point of "Why ask why?" We pay, they play... 'nuff said. There's no real need to overanalyze this. IMHO.

As for David Buss being "full of shit", I think that is uncalled for.

I was once at a resort down near Drake Bay and the guy who ran the place had a sort of "culture night" where all the employees dressed in traditional Costa Rican clothing and they served a traditional CR dinner and then danced some folk dances. The night was beautiful. Then something strange happened: we (the tourists) all got a lecture.

The Tico told us that traditional Costa Rican culture did not apprechiate what he called "the Latino lover" and that these guys were "like dogs" because they would impregnate women and then abandon them.

I was mortified but I understood what he meant. We are the only species that can make these kind of choices and consider the consequences of our behavior. I think most of the mongers are basically good guys who treat women with respect but then; somebody did knock up the famous Karina of SL. We are victims of biology. The desire to procreate is strong whether we can admit it to ourselves or not. Almost every American woman I have ever known has had at least one abortion. The desire to make Babi*s may be even stronger within them than us. That is life. Evolution of sexual desire brought us to this place, but be thankful. Do you know why women are so beautiful? It is because natural selection made them that way.

Sorry. I didn't realize that you're a personal friend of David Buss. Let me rephrase.

Rather than saying he personally is full of shit, let me clarify.

While his scholarship is more or less sound, and while he is highly regarded for his expertise, I wholeheartedly disagree with many of his conclusions. He is publishing "pop science," which in most cases is worse than no science at all. He draws specious conclusions, partly because he is so intent on disregarding the existence of anything beyond biology/genetics; he ignores the possibility of the existence of a human soul. Furthermore, he deliberately ignores many social factors in mating, not the least of which are sexual expectations created by mass media and popular culture.

Hope that's more palatable to you.

BTW, I didn't realize that the compass line was your tagline. I still disagree with it.
