Is this a big international airport like the one in San Jose or a small airport for commuer type flights? Thx.

It's an international airport, but not as big as SJO. There are 4 or 5 major carriers who service LIR (AA, Delta included).

Not even a good coffee shop in the airport. It is really small! Open air waiting areas and customs areas.

This airport was built by Brown & Root (KBR today) back when the Sandinistas where operating just North of there - good for a big plane, but not for hanging around
