A hotel I normally stay in keeps banana bread baked by a guy, a gringo I believe, that has a little business supplying hotels and restaurants with his delicous recipe. I'm tired of this hotel and not getting good rates so want to find this guy and order direct when I'm in SJO. Some of you guys that live there or have been around might know who I'm talking about or another place that serves it. I swear, he delivers it place to place in a little pouch hanging from a shoulder strap. He's like the Juan Valdez of Banana Bread but without the donkey.

I know it's an odd request, believe me. But one of the "flavors" I always miss when I return home is that. It's delicious.

The guys name is Bruce. He has been selling Banana Bread in San Jose since 1994.

He usually makes the rounds of the gringo bars. I would go to the NY bar and ask the bartender what days and about what time he stops in. I have run into him at the BM but not sure the bartenders there would notice him maybe check with the security guys at the door on the BM side.

Bruce is Canadian. He often can be found doing the circuit of everywhere around the gulch and a few other places nearby. If you run into him, buy him a Pilzen for me!

I met him at Paradise hotel In Jaco he was helping out doing some odd jobs and stuff. He told me he lost some investment money in cr and told me a lil about that villalobos scandel.

Anyway, He said he sells the bread now he was a pretty cool guy to talk too.
