This is the hotel were they had the Saturday night chica show for awhile. At that time if you booked through Don/Juan (sorry forget his exact name) Carlos you got a special rate and no chica fee.
Do not know the present policy.

I stayed there before, and my question would be, why stay there? It's older, somewhat dingy. It does have a restaurant attached, but nothing remarkable. What I liked best was a normal tico cafeteria across the street, just down the block, if you like casado, yucca, platano like I do, you will be in heaven. But why stay there? If you can get the discount through the casino, the Amon Plaza is much nicer. The Presidente is much nicer. The Hotel Inca is inexpensive, but you have to select your room with some care (don't get a room next to the basement breakfast area) and there is a chica fee of $10 or so. I've never stayed at the Sportsmen's, but obviously it gets good reviews and I have had a few drinks there, it's a nice and friendly place.

Hotel Europa is chica-friendly---no fee, no limit. There are not as many mongers staying there as Pres, SL, Amon, Morazan, etc.

Unfortunately, our ole friend Don Carlos is no longer there to get us the VIP $40 rate.
