Or is it Morazon?
Browsed through 6 pages of search results and did find a phone #. I thought they had a website?
No room at the Pres. Dec. 10 weekend (damn tourists) :P so looking at either the Morazan, SL or may try CasaVino, but- about Morazan, do you still have to call, then they fax a form, then fax it w/credit card info back, then hope you still have a reservation when you show up?
Why doesn't this hotel get with it and just get an email/website reservation system set up? (Handy there's a job for you) I've heard Morazan and Europa are owned by the same company.

Is Morazan

Telephone is 011-506-222-4622.

Last I heard the procedure is as you describe. Call for a reservation, they fax you a CC authorization form and you fax it back.

Have not heard any complaints or incidences of 'NO' or "LOST" reservations.

Make sure to ask for the Soprano discount

Just so the newbies know. That was an inside joke. I won't go into the whole history here, but I for one would definitely appreciate it if everyone pledged not to give Soprano any credit for business given to the Morazon. Anyother small comment.

The Morazon had a website (not sure if it is still up) but I believe it was serviced by some sort of agency rather than the Morazon itself, which might have contributed to its history of lost reservations.

Whenever the subject of the Morazon comes up, half a dozen members will repeat the warnings about lost reservations there. I'd be curious to know whether these lost reservations actually happened to them or was part of some sort of urban legend that got repeated more times than it actually happened. I know it did SOMETIMES happen a while back when the hotel was hot and constantly booked out (before the Prez remodelingand before the Badabacklash). I'd also be curious to know if anyone here themselves have experienced any messed up reservations when staying at the Morazon at any time during say the past year or two.

I like the Hotel Morazon. And I have never personally experienced a "lost" reservation. Let me make that point clear. However, when I reserve with them I make sure to follow up with several phone calls. Last month I did witness a Gringo at the reception desk whom was very upset due to his claim of a "lost" reservation. In fact, he threatened the hotel with the loss of his and his extended famalies future business. The reception person stood firm. No record of a reservation. No available rooms. The guy was irate! Anyone reconize themselves?

In May 2005 my buddy had his reservation lost at Morazon and he even had called the night before to confirm. Fortunately, someone else had just canceled and he still got a room.

I used to stay at the Morazon exclusively and think it is great for the price and location. I havent stayed since the fired Alonzo at the front desk and the Americans that were running the casino left.

Paco, it is as you described. Make sure you get a confirmation number because they WILL ask for it. Last time in CR I saw a large sign on their building say it is now $35/night. This sign is on the HDR side of the building. Make sure you get that rate. I've paid anywhere between $41 and $55 at the Morazon. I am extremely disappointed with the Morazon due to the incident I described to you in PM. Fortunately for you, you will certainly not have the same problem.
