When I was at the Prez the Skybox was only open on Wed-Sun. Since the high season is here, I was wondering if it is open every day now. I stay there on every trip and i just keeps getting better.

Hotel Presidente, is still the best place to stay when in San Jose. The new check in process for girls is no big deal, if anything it's closer to the elevators.

Don't know about the clip-on-tags they hand out now.. I have yet to see any chicas wearing the damn thing. I kept thinking if the chica forgets to return the tag, then they could walk into the Presidente unescorted without getting hassled. But she could also be a stalker looking for trouble with an old novio. I don't think the clip-on-tags are a good idea.

News Cafe staff provide great service!!! I want to hook up with one of chicas but it would probably be a difficult task, since she knows i have a non-working Tica novia. Oh well, it would be nice.

Of all things to happen to LH's novia, here he is heading down for the first time in months and she can't get in the Pres. as of an incident a few days ago. You that know her will probably agree she's usually conservatively dressed, at least thats what I've noticed. Evidently she argued with one of the employees that thought otherwise and is now banned from the hotel for an unknown length of time. Of course not knowing yet the whole story or what REALLY happened it wouldn't be fair to make judgements one way or the other, but I think it is fair to say: Some employees are more stringent than others at times concerning policies, and perhaps the chicas should be reminded (by us) to take the dress policy warnings more seriously,(and not to argue if warned) as the blacklistlist seems to be getting longer by the week.
LH may be moving to the Hotel Asia or her place for the week.

Does anyone know what's up with the rooftop jacuzzi, :? I've noticed last couple trips it has not been working.

Witling- you make some good points and I'm looking forward to my next stay at the hotel. (Besides any hotel that kicks out the type of women LH associates with is OK in my book.)

Wit,

You're points are absolutely dead-on. :D You didn't even mention the WIFI feature, on-premises casino, drvie-in parking, luggage storage, turn-down service with chocolate, the wonderful beds and the fact that one can actually get a decent cheeseburger in the News Cafe. Furthermore, every CRT VIP member gets a free keychain and ball-cap, even if he's not staying at the Presidente.

I have made my dislikes regarding this hotel known: rotten flourescent lighting, hard concrete surfaces which reflect even the tiniest noise and the generally "cold" feeling of the rooms...however, it's still a fine place to stay, and I believe their very reasonable rules and procedures make the hotel safer, more comfortable and quieter. With all due respect to the dashing and handsome Hazel, I don't see any problems with such rules and procedures.

Will I stay at the Presidente the next time i visit San Jose? Fifty-fifty chance either way. I really like the ambience and service at the Sportsmen's Lodge, and I'm curious about the Morazan; the price and location of the latter certainly seem perfect. I am reminded by true veterans around here that before the presidente did all the remodeling, the Morazan was the hotel of choice among many hobbyists, and I'll want to check it out as well.

If hotel rules, chica fees and the like bother you, there are numerous alternatives, including renting a short-term apartment (Rincon de San Jose, Sudamer, Vista Linda, Villa Lakshmi and others).

I am also surprised that many guys here haven't tried the Europa, the Clarion (Amon Plaza), Hotel Gran Via or other "chica-friendly" hotels in el centro. :? It seems to me that despite the popularity of the HDR, H. Presidente and SL, we have many options in downtown San Jose... and I haven't even mentioned all of the hotels which accept "guests."

What about arranging it so you could check in chicas on 2nd floor by the SkyBox. There is usually someone sitting at this entrance anyway. You could go in the main entrance and then right up the stairs or you could come in through the Fiesta Casino. This would be more discrete and you might drop a few coins in the slot machines along the way. Seems like a win win for the Presidente.

What is the discount with a CRT VIP Card and/or Membership?

The Del Rey seems rowdy in comparison to Presidente. Is there any truth to that?

Would you rec. the Presidente to a first time CR visitor?

IMHO, I'd recommend the Del Rey for a 1st time visit. After your first time in CR, it's almost guaranteed that you'll be back. You've got plenty of time to check out the numerous other hotels in the gulch, but for the 1st time, it's gotta be the HDR / BM. It's ground zero!

Rowdy ? You might say that. But you have to go there and see it for yourself. Simple words can't explain the 1st time you walk into the HDR. Just be careful that you don't step on your tongue!

Have fun.

Presidente rates shown on CRT discount list:

Studio Room $42 + tax
Standard Room Single $51 + tax Double $61 + tax
Junior Suite & Spa Rooms $85 + tax
Spa Suite $95 + tax
Master Suite $220 + tax

Tax is 16.39%

I believe these are accurate at this time.

Think everyone would agree that the Presidente is more laid back then the Del Rey and is much less rowdy.

El Presidente is always a good choice in a hotel as are some others such as Del Rey (HDR) or Sportsman's Lodge (SL)

Use the search function as it will bring up a great deal of valuable information.

Welcome to CRT and enjoy your first trip to CR. YOU WILL BE BACK  .

There are numerous advantages to staying at the Hotel del Rey, but there are drawbacks.

1. Compared to the Presidente rates with discount, the HDR can be pricier.

2. Unless you get a room on a higher floor, the casino/bar noise can disturb your beauty sleep.

3. The Del Rey charges $10.00 per chica, per room visit. For the average horndog monger, this automatically adds twenty bucks - fifty bucks a day to your room bill.

The Presidente and Costa Rica Hotel Morazan are both within a block of the HDR, cost less, have lower or no chica fees and are more tranquilo.

Of course, as a new visitor, maybe you want to be camped right at the intersection of Sodom and Gomorrah. Either way, you'll have fun.

BTW, the discount rates for the Presidente start at $42.00 for a studio room and go up to $250.00/night for the Master suite. Really cool spa rooms can be had for $85.00/night. The 16.39% tax is not included in the price, but a nice breakfast buffet is included. Look on the list of VIP benefits for other CRT VIP hotel discounts, including the Clarion/Amon Plaza and Sportsmen's Lodge.

Have fun, Johnny!

On checking in Chicas.

I was there a total of 12 days,
there was never a problem with the check in, some of the guys even gave a nod of aproval on your girl,

The girls never wore the tags and I did always remind the girls it was important to return the badge as well.

Glad to hear things are well at the Prez. I can of enjoy the security measures in place. I feel safer knowing the enterences are guarded and the chicas know someone else knows they were there.

I never had any problems on my last trip with the hotel staff or any visitors. Maybe I was lucky; maybe I just choose well; or the security measures help keep the chicas in line.

Eight weeks to go!

Ok, I know I am new at this, but the hotel presedente has lost their minds. I tried to bring a tica back to my room last night and they would not let me in the door with her. Why? because she was wearing too short of a skirt. the skirts have to go below their knees. Now the girls that you bring back to your hotel room have to fit the hotel's new dress code policy. Also on the way in tonight, while bring in another tica, the hotel was stopping another girl, due to her midriff showing. This all has happened about 11-1 o'clock at night. Has anyone else ran into this problem?

Let me know if I need to start another thread about this.
