Jr Suite is one large room

Presidential Suite is 2 rooms

Three stays and I made reservations via email. It's easy, cheaper than a phone call, and you have a record of your reservation.

I'm staying in one of the new rooms at the Sportsmen's. There are a
few kinks that still need to be worked out (like the not-so-reliable
hot water), and the noise remains a problem (the construction guys
started with the saws and hammers at 8:00 a.m. Saturday, but that's
why God invented earplugs). Nevertheless, the Sportsmens remains an
excellent alternative and a great place to retreat with your chica of
choice.

And the new online reservation system is the best in the biz.

Added the following morning: I just took an unauthorized tour of the whole new section of the Sportsmen’s, and it’s going to be very, very nice. About half of it is still under construction and I don’t know when it will be finished.

The rooms on the same level as the bar are named Ilusión, Las Palmas, El Rey, and Hermosa. I’m staying in the Ilusión, which is the closest room to the bar (bring your earplugs). The new section is not decorated in the Victorian antique style; it’s modern… but not soul-less focus-group-tested bland… it’s Costa Rican in flavor with nice woods and tasteful accents. Everything is new, and it’s air conditioned, but I say again that air conditioning is not really an issue in this climate (and I’m a Florida air-conditioning-loving guy). There was a nice Jacuzzi bath-shower in Ilusión.

The upstairs new rooms are named Mirador, Vista Del Sol, Del Mar, El Dorado, Amante, and the Penthouse. I predict the split-level Penthouse on the uppermost floors will replace the Master Suite at the Presidente as the best room in the city (at least that I know of). These rooms will henceforth be my first preference.

I swear I’m not shilling.

I started to book at the SL, but changed my mind for the Presidente. I made the right choice. My first night there, my room was not ready so they opted out to give me a wonderful suite for the std price w/discount. Next they offered me the suite w/Jacuzzi for the next two nights and finally had the original room on my last night. All for the original price, I was pleased. All this, plus being with my favorite Dominican chica made this trip one of the GREAT One’s!!! It was a great trip thanks to Hotel Presidente.

Although in the end, you lucked out with the better room and all, this actually doesn't make the Prez look very good. You're original room wasn't ready (for whatever reason). Luckily, they had vacancies, so they did the only righteous thing and upgrade you for no add'l charge. Had they been all booked up, you might be singing a different tune.

I'm glad it worked out for you though.

Guess it depends on how you look at things. Is the glass half full or half empty?

I think it makes the Pres look very good. The object of good customer service is to admit your error, make the necessary change, have a satisfied customer. Seems to me the Pres did all 3 things correctly.

That is pure conjecture. We do not know how they would have handled that situation so why speculate.

We all know that Bill at SL is a great host who goes he extra mile to make staying there a great experience. Praising another Hotel for handling a situation in a very satisfactory way is not a knock on the SL.

DD,
Don't get me wrong. I wasn't trying to bad-mouth the Prez or praise SL in my last post. Although I like SL myself, I've heard nothing but good things about Prez.

I was simply trying to make the point that Pooter did get lucky and ended up with a better room at a lower price. But we don't really need to speculate as to what they (Prez) would have done if they were booked solid and the room wouldn't be available. What else could they do? Apologize, maybe help you find another hotel, and hopefully give a free night stay or something for future use.

Even though I like the SL a lot I could see them overbooking somehow, sometime. The communication doesn't always seem coordinated. I always double and triple check their reservation.

:?: I understand what you are saying, and that is a very good point. The Prez did do the right thing and it was a wonderful time. :P For the future though, I will make sure that they have the room before arrival. As far as finding a place to stay…NO PROBLEM…. 8) 8) 8) The Dominican girls all have apartments and they always welcome me with open arms !!!!   That is why I stick with my Dom-girl, she looks out for me. In fact, she wanted to leave and go stay at her apartment, but it was hard to leave that Jacuzzi.  As far as staying at the SL. I started to stay there, but every time I tried to narrow them down on where the room was or the total price w/ CRT discount they just said, “it was a nice room,” and I would have to talk to manager. If you want my business you have to be up front with the price. :( :( :( From all the post I read about the SL there seems to be a problem with always getting the CRT discount. Maybe some of you have a suggestion on how to navigate this problem. AS FAR AS THE PREZ……Número Uno con Mí 8) 8) 8)
