Being somewhat of a newbie (three trips since June), I was wondering if any of the vets had any thoughts on the seasonal trends in airfares? I fly out of Orlando and got what I would consider good deals ($300 nonstop in June and $207 connecting in Miami in September) my first two trips but was forced to pay $440 (connecting in Miami) in November. I have been checking out fares for the end of March and everything seems outrageous at this point. Can I expect to find some better deals as time goes by or should I grab an available $476 fare now? Any help or suggestions are greatly appreciated.

All of the below originated in Chicago

1st trip, January '05 through Miami opn AA.....$ 327
2nd trip, April '05 through Charlotte on US Air...$ 402
3rd trip, July '05 through Guatemala on Taca...$ 524
4th trip, November '05 through Guatemala on Taca... $ 546
5th trip, February '06 through Philadelphia on US Air...$ 397

Not a clue how they figure the rates whether they are seasonal etc.

Wish I had a clue, usually book at least 60 days in advance.

I've been checking flights for about two weeks and they are all inflated for the holidays!!! Would like to book a flight for sometime this week until the end of the first week in January, will keep looking.

Also, anyone know how the " free companionship" works with AAciti card? I signed up a few months ago and have a "f/c" coming...

Have to get back to checking fares...

Happy Holidays!!!

You just book your flight at normal, then it will tell you that you have a free companion seat...and you follow the directions to add it. Then they show up to the airport with you and lala, the rest is history.

I recently got my AA citicard platinum card with 20,000 miles for signing up. This is my second card. I know the first time I got the card I got 15k miles and a free companion ticket. This time around I didn't know I should of been expecting a free companion ticket? Is this offer valid for everybody? I mean I recently recieved the card but, I didn't get a "FC" voucher? Should I bug AA about this? Heres the link where I got my AA card

Awe it seems I took the 20k miles but, my offer doesn't have the free companion voucher. Mine also do have my first year dues waived and i'll probably cancel before the first year is up. I think I should of gotten the 15k miles with the companion ticket instead of the 20k miles with no companion voucher. Well actually if you can rack up miles while using the vouchers then it would better. I know for my AA awards flights I can't rack up miles. Does anybody know if you can rack up miles while using the vouchers? I might want to get a third card.

Airfare is up due to fuel prices, higher demand, and carriers cutting back routes. We are entering the high travel season in CR. June through the fall was the green (rainy) season and lower demand.

I just found out that I have Christmas week off work and would like to go back to CR or somewhere else. I paid only 340 for RT air fare last May but can not find any thing like that. I was even thinking of Mexican border towns never been there has anyone else? :(
