What you need to do is setup a phone service in the US, like a home business phone, then use that number and "forward" all your calls to your cell phone. We do this all the time at my job as I am on the road so much. We just press a couple of buttons and our office phones now become our cell phones. Ring tone is from the USA.
But of course if you give out your cell number, there is no chance.

Really ? I will have to check again, but our PBX system is very programmable though a WEB interface/dedicated IP. I can control all functions and programming this way. I will have to double check again, but I was sure when I called "myself", the ring tone was US.

Another way is to use a Pager service. Someone calls and leaves a message, then "they" notify you of your new message. Then you have to call in to check your message. Only way I can think of for now to keep a USA ring tone. Unless your service is in India!

check out vonage. the most amazing (and cheap) service around. you can have your calls ring in multiple countries simultaneously, place calls when you are sitting in CR and have caller id pop up with any area code/number that you like, make phone calls from you pc (high quality),etc. it will not fix the CR ring tone issue but oh it does so much...all you need is a hi speed internet connection...

it is only a matter of time before vonage is hooked in wirelessly/cell -- of course, the cr monopoly needs to accept it...

I don't know why you guys torture yourselves. Just got back from trip number 6 this year and, when in country, totally shut out and forget that other stateside world. Yes, the flight home is the reality check where I find it necessary to remember where my house is, where I work and what else there was back in the states when I left.
