My hat goes off again to Bill, Ray, Johanna, Hazel and all the girls at the bar. I have nothing but the best to say for these folks and for this place. Once again I got to make some life long friends (mostly CRT brothers and some very pretty Ticas) and had the best trip of my 4 this year. I can see great success for Bill and his staff in the future. Thanks to everyone for helping make my trip the best yet.

When did Hazel start working at SL again. I thought she had another job now. Or is this a different Hazel.

If it's the same Hazel she worked the front desk Friday and Saturday evening. She did say she had another job and use to work at the SL in the past. She was very nice and a fine looking lady.

First off, yes, this is the Hazel that used to work there in the past.

Now on her being nice, I'm going to have to respectfully disagree, and for those that know what a staunch and stubborn supporter of Sportsman's Lodge, it's rare IF EVER that I have some thing negative to say about anything or anyone at the Sportsman's...

But in terms of Hazel, I really found her to be out of norm with the caliber of friendliness and warmth that all other staff members at the Sportsman's possess naturally. She is just more standoffish, cold and indifferent to customers (and I don't say this on how she acted with me... with me she was atleast cordial, though never made eye contact even once with me... but with others she was just so...blah... SO NOT the standard at the SL.).

Anyways, just my two cents on Hazel, but Sportsmans still very much ROCKS!!

Ruff

I have to respectfully disagree, Do not know if you have read some of my early posts such as below, I am also a staunch supporter of SL.

I have had face to face lenghthy discussions with Hazel and found her to be very charming, although I would have to agree she was a little standofish at first.. After getting to know me a little bit she warmed up quite a bit. I would have to agree she has that look of unapproachability, once you get through that she does have quite a nice personality.

I do think she has been burned once or more by Gringo's lying to her so I am sure she has her guard up, her knowing I have a novia could possibly be the reason she has warmed up to me (I know she does not like the multiple players)

I am sending you a PM, I am not sure if the rumor I heard was true, maybe you can tell me.

Respectfully
CG

Ny early posts of SL, January '05 (1st trip) # 5 coming up....

WannaBe, mi amigo. How the hell are ya ?!?!?! Welcome back to the real world. It was good to see that you've had another great visit to paradise. You just can't stay away! Did you win at the tables?
Hope to see you in town for SuperBowl weekend.

Call me crazy, but somehow Sportsmens doesn't seem like the ideal place for someone who has a chip on their shoulder about gringos to be working...

Hazel may be deep down a very nice person, but Ruff is right - outwardly, she certainly doesn't project the same warmth towards guests at Sportsmens that the rest of the staff does routinely.

GR

It would be difficult for me to disagree with you on that point. I have stayed at SL now 4 times in '04. I am treated like family there. Tell the girls lollipop man is coming back for the Super Bowl.......

As far as comparing Hazel to the rest of the crew, she definitely does lack the personality skills to work there although I have have conversations with her and she has warmed up a little to me.

I definitely see you and RN's points regarding her attitude towards most of us and I do think she could be a little friendlier...She does know what we come there for for the most part, but although soime of us have stopped mongering for the most part (MP's don;t count), she does not see the difference between honest decent guys and the players.....Everyone is the same to some of these girls.

Maybe someone should have another talk with Bill, I did on my July trip regarding her personality skills (that is when I found out she was leaving SL), although she is a very intelligent lady those skills are definitely lacking. Maybe you are correct she does not belong in the hospitality industry.

Peace out

CG

CG,

That brings up an insteresting issue, simply because she (or no one else that is a staff member at a monger-hotel) has no right to judge any of the guests, regardless of whether they are decent guys or players. SL has enjoyed tremendous success and one of the main reasons that makes it stand out from others is the "Cheers" mentality where everyone knows your name and treats you like family. In her mind, she should not have the luxery to discriminate one way or another between mongers and non-mongers, or assholes and nice guys, or any other type of comparison we can come up with...

Although at first you disagreed with me, I am starting to believe that, after your subsequent posts in trying to explain her behavior, we are very much in the same sheet of music on her way of being. Quite frankly, after all this further discussion, I just don't think she really fits in or belongs...not only in the hospitality business within the gulch, but even less so in the Sportsman's Lodge where they pride themselves in superior customer service.

Anyways, GR and CG, we can further talk about this over Jagerbombs on Superbowl weekend... first round is on Hazel's tab.

Actually, she does have the luxury to discriminate in her mind. Everyone is afforded this luxury. Just not letting it show in the hospitality industry. I do this on a daily basis, :P I can tell an asshole from a nice guy!

I was not going to post on this thread but you guys are not making it easy!

Grey Ghost... you are right, bad wording on my part... IN HER MIND, she can think whatever the Sam Hell she wants... but behavior-wise, it's a whole other story.... OH YOU KNOW WHAT I MEANT DAMMIT.

By the way, i meant..." In her mind (but better replaced with 'In terms of her behavior'), she does not have the luxury to OUTWARDLY discriminate....

I have been in the restaurant/bar business for 35 yrs and rule one is never let anyone know how you personally feel about them. I insisted they acted properly and treated my staff properly and just remembered an assholes money spends just as well as a decent customer.
Just felt the need to jump in here.......

I agree, but goes it really happen, they are human like everyone else, and do tend to judge you by your activities, especially the girls at SL, both bartenders and the front desk girls, as much as would like to believe they do not gossip, most of us know that they do.......

I frequent SL for basically the same reason as you, the "Cheers" mentality, the camaradarie of the guys, have met a few guys, GG, Socal, Chgolatino in the SL who will be long time friends and I am sure that trend will continue in the future.

Getting back to the issue at hand, I was not trying to defend Hazel, maybe my wording was bad, just trying to explain my experience with her. I would absolutely agree that she does not fit the mold of what Bill has strived for and successfully attained.

I have a great relationship with all of the girls at SL, the bar girls quite frankly are a lot friendlier than the Front Desk but I have gotten lucky I guess as far as how they have treated me.....

Look forward to having a few drinks with you guys SB weekend, Tequila or Centenario for me...

How do you drink that VILE bad cough syrup........  :P :P

Peace

Hello Mikey-B, it was my best trip ever, they just continue to get better and you are correct, it is paradise. About the discussion on Hazel I'll offer to buy the first round and if there aren't to many in the discussion the second round of Jagerbombs at the Sportsmens anytime from Feb. 1st-7th. I'm looking forward to another great trip and meeting more CRT brothers.

I know the girl. She is a little on the introspective side but I don't mind that. I like her. One day she straight up ignored me when I said hi to her. She's got some mustard to her. Very thorough with her work, and she reads a lot.
