Thursday night after the poker tourny I needed a taxi back to Escazu. I walked outside and the doorman asked if I wanted a taxi. I said yes and a guy said "Let's go". Since I didn't just fall off the turnip truck, and he didn't have a meter,I told him where I was going,and asked how much. He gave me the "don't worry about it" look that most taxis use. I repeated "how much?" He said 4,000 and I said NO it's 3,000 to my house. He repeated 4,000 and I asked the doorman to call me a REAL taxi. The taxi guy within 5 seconds said OK 3,000. They are all the same.You just need to let them know that you will pay the fair price ONLY.
