I was wondering if anyone has helped or tried obtaining a Visa for a Tica. From what I've heard an American needs to write a letter of invitation and/or request in order for them to submit during the interview. Don't know what else needs to be included in the letter, maybe explaining their intentions for the visit and as well as documenting that they will have a place to stay and will be doing something with their time in the USA... other than planning on staying. The non-working Tica I'd like to invite has two bebes and will be leaving them behind, so the CR goverment knows she has something back home to return to.

Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

p.s. I'm heading out to CR in NOvember 12-20. So let me see if I have this right... tell the Tica I'll be there from Nov 15 thru 19? Is that correct?

Don't even waste your time thinking about this. Plain and simple, it's not going to happen. The letter of invitation that you're talking about is a myth. Unless the girl you are talking about bringing to the US has a million dollars in the bank, you can forget about it. I've tried this enough times to know.

Do a Google search for "K-1 visa". That is your only hope.

Sandinista is right. The "Fiance Visa" is the best bet.

I second the other responses. Years ago ( before 9/11 ) I tried very hard to get a visa for my tica novia. It was basically not possible. I wrote a letter on my corp letterhead that she had a job, filled out the form regarding the job and even had a letter from my physician that she would also be working as a care giver on my disabled mother. No go. Period. You have to marry them to by bypass the seemingly impossible process.

Thank god things did not go as I had hoped. How dumb I was. IMO just bang them good and hard, enjoy your visit and then let it go.

I will put my vote with Sandanista. Or, you could marry her in Costa Rica and apply for the K-3 and at the same time the K-4 for her young ones. However, that process is longer and more expensive than the K-1. With the K-1, you can also apply for the K-4 at the same time. Post 9/11, it is very difficult to get foreigners in to the country and as someone else mentioned on another thread (believe it was Witling) CR is not a "preferred country." Neither is the Dominican Republic. Bueno suerte, amigo.

I have to disagree somewhat with the previous posts. In 1999/2000 I wrote 'invitation' letters for the US Embassy in CR on behalf of two Ticas, and they both got tourist visas. They were both total 'non-pros'. One was divorced with two offspring and the other was never married with no offspring. They were 33 and 34 years old. They had worked for many years as hairdressers. Neither had any money in the bank or any real estate. The following year I wrote an 'invitation' letter on behalf of a DR Tica and she was turned down. She was 26 with two offspring.

It is possible to bring a TICA to the states for 'work training, to then return to her job in CR', with your CR subsidiary'.

Do you think that if Ticas were allowed to visit USA freely that they would come to stay with you (us)? I doubt it!

Is better you chat with an Immigration Lawyer and get all the current data. They know more about all of your options. There are many websites devoted to this subject.

Please dont spoil them by bringing them to Gringaland! The only Ticas or other foreign lady I will take to the USA with me is one that is qualified on her own steam...funds...connections...business ability. In other words, someone of equal class, success or hard work equal to what I have put into it. Sure, it;s easy for me to say this as a US citizen...BUT...it also should be a reality check about why and what type of woman we want to hang with. Why would one try to bring a PRO girl or totally destitute lower class Tica or latina to the states when you could bring many qualified, moneyed and attractive Latinas of substance...from a good family, good values etc? Are we feeling too inferior? Do we not want a challenging relationship of equality and mutual respect. Do we just want a sex slave to take back to our "crib"? WHy not hook up with a airline hostess, a female corporate manager or local store female OWNER to take home and meet Mom? This would work for you much better...if you have game and a secure ego. And yes...it's back to dating 101...

OK...so I'm a little elitist. NOT. Just reality that long term relationships and expatriation are statistically more successful and gratifying with those of equal class and education. Again...reality sucks sometimes...

But i'm sure you and i make more money than 97% of the women in the world. Statistically i read that if you make 90,000. per year you make
more than 97% of the US population.

I don't think the above gentleman should bring someone to US either
if he lives in chicago; i'm sure he can obtain lots of romantic latin women
if he goes for it there. But maybe he makes good money
or ...doesn't mind spending to have a friend come stay with him and explore.

Personally i met a peruvian lawyer (no big deal in south america dollar wise) in North Carolina in april. She is waiting six months before she can return again. I'd like to explore something with her; but not have her move in; just visit her on weekends in NC to see if there is anything there.

Someone from california was thinking of bringing a lina -colombiana to stay for two weeks, i'm sure he would have a special time, and a blast having her around. But i'm sure most other guys wouldn't spend the time or money to do that.

higher financial standing and education; you even admit that it is more of a challenge which is valuable to you.

Yes if we could just find a successful latin woman that would also
have undying love for us-seems like a good catch.

Fortunately, you seem to circle more in latin america and can spend

If you want to go , really go--- to the USA , I have been told by some of the veteran Colombian chicas at the Blue Marlin , a US Visa can easily be obtained by paying about $ 2000.00 to the "operators" with connections to the Embassy.

Have not used that route myself, having 3 chicas with legal US Visas to visit me anytime

What if a Tica already has a VISA but has let it expire, If an american were to vouch for her to get it renewed for a vacation to the US, would that be a easier process due to the fact that she already had one.

Another possible positive. She has a sister, married to an American and living in Houston. Will this help.
