The fact there are only 4 rooms at $49 & $59 at the SL got me wondering is this the way it is at the Presidente. By that I mean only a few $40 & $49 rooms.

Nobody said it's a charity but the SL gets a ton of publicity on the board and they just raised the price. If it's good then they'll prosper. If not, people will find other accomodations that leave more money in their pockets for the other reasons they visit CR. :)

Compare SLs rates with the Delrey and other neighborhood spots for what you get in return...no comparison. Since they have heavy occupancy and more features than most area hotels, you cant blame them for getting a little more "bang for their buck". It's not the cheapest hotel in the area...but I dont think they ever set out to be. I've seen their renovations in the new area and it's going to be great...especially for the price in my opinion.

I agree. They are hot now and with the additions will be even hotter.

This is a business in the tourism industry. The industry is cyclical by nature so you can't blame a business for trying to get the most "bang for their buck" since the situation can change quickly. I don't know if CR tourism fits the same pattern, but tourism is unpredictable, so they gotta do what they gotta do.

I walked through the addition in Sept and it looked awesome. I am staying there for the 1st time in Oct and again in Nov. This will be my very 1st non-presidente stay in over 2 years.

I just spent eight days at the SL in Paz - a $55 room (VIP $50). I've seen the other hotels. I couldn't imagine staying anywhere else.

Ask anyone who's been there.

I`m not complaining about the price just the fact when they made the new rooms they didn`t make any more standard rooms. I think there are alot of guys who feel this is all they need. IMHO

I think that the hotel would like to accommodate everyone. But as a business they would rather offer rooms that were bigger and more profitable. It sounds like the new rooms with the new amenities will be worth the modest price increase. Tux
