I have heard so many good things about the Sportsmens Lodge and would like to stay there when I go in November, but I was quoted $79/Night + taxes. Please help me out if you could and tell me what you paid and how you booked your room. Thanks.

Gustar,
Keep in mind that November-April (I think) is the high season in CR. All prices increase a lot from what I've seen. Coincidentally, do MP's raise prices during the high season?

Right now, a single room at SL is $55 + taxes (10% off with VIP discount). It would not surprise me if the price in November was $79.

I have never seen a variation in prices at MP's they seem to be set year around and rise to alow for inflation periodically.rbc100

Orange, thanks for responding. What I'm getting at here is exactly what you are saying. I just want to stay there for the $55 rate that is quoted on their website. That's all I ask. I have that price fixed in my mind from reading their website.

If their website said $79 I probably would pay it. Originally I thought that the SL would welcome me with open arms from all of the great things that everybody says about it. Instead I am feeling SQUEEZED.

I am going to book at the Presidente if this is the case.

I do not know of a $79 room rate. Perhaps the new rooms are ready and that is the new rate for them. I knew they were going to be more being under A/C.

I do not know of a 79 rate. That may be for a deluxe room.

Here's a thought, maybe someone can call Bill or Ray at Sportsmen's Lodge and ASK them what the rates are. 506-221-2533

Bill also logs onto CRT from time to time as "True Sportsman". There is no conspiracy.

Here is the information from the CRT VIP Discount page. If it's not accurate I suggest you notify Admin1 ASAP.

The all new Sportsmen’s lodge, restaurant & sports bar is proud to be a www.costaricaticas.com VIP sponsor.
Rooms starting at $55 per night or $25 per hour with 10% off for VIP members.
· 10% Food & Drinks for all www.costaricaticas.com VIP's please show your card.

Maybe the rate quoted is for one of the new rooms that I read about on a CRT thread. Does anyone know if these new rooms are available and what the rates are? Tux

These are the rates at Sportmens, master suite $95 +taxes, Jr Suite $80+taxes, Standard Large $65+taxes ( Buena Vida,Belleza,Pura Vida), Standard Double $65+taxes ( Esperanza y Tranquilidad), and Standard Regular with shared bathroom $45+taxes ( Fiesta y Alegria). Amor is $55+taxes.
The rates are less 10% for our discount.

I am not sure when the new rooms will be available. It is best you contact the Sportsmens directly. Email @

The new rooms are available starting at $ 79.00 in the new wing per an e-mail I recently received from Bill.

I am guessing he is sold out for the time period you are requesting at the $ 55 rate.

I do know that is what I was quoted for Nov 5 to Nov 13 in the new wing.

I will be staying there the 11th and 12th. You will still see me hanging at the bar.......

Do I understand this correctly , there is only one standard room at $55 and three standard large at $65. The rest of the rooms are $79 and up. If this is true this would be a hard place to get a $50 room with discount.

I am sorry, I left out Paz, $55 + tax. The original part only had twelve rooms and one is used by the owner. So there are only two @ $55 and they are a little small.

This is what I was quoted:
Standard Deluxe $79
Junior Suite $89
Presidential Suite $99

I am not making an attack on the Sportsmens Lodge. The last thing that I want to do is upset the host of the party. The Sportsmens Lodge is free to charge whatever they want to and I don't fault them for wanting to make a profit. I just don't understand why their quoted rates are different than what is stated on their website. I have corresponded with them through a total of 6 emails and I still do not understand why there is a difference. I am just planning on staying at the Presidente for $49 per night and dropping the issue. No hard feelings to the SL or anybody else. I appreciate all of the comments and will stop by the bar if I am still welcome there.

Looks like they've gone up $4/nt across the board with the exception of the junior suites that went up $9/nt. Considering the fact that you guys have been sending all your business there and booking them out all the time even in green season, I'm surprised they haven't raised their rates even more. Its all just supply and demand. OTOH, we will have to wait and see how well the new rates go over and how well Bill manages to fill up his nearly doubled supply of rooms. The other reason the room rates have gone up is all the expense that Bill has put into his new wings. Keep in mind that, at least in the new wing, you're now getting more for those new rates with king-sized beds, a/c and views for all but two.

Johanna just sent me an e-mail IRT to an inquiry I made for a buddy re: the availability of rooms in November. She quoted me $79/night (before CRT discount) for a standard deluxe room.
