Seems like I have encountered a bit of carpet is some of the local places on occasion but not often but always well trimed.I to am a carpet lover and wish they would just keep it groomed a bit.It is scarce to say the least.I didn't find any in DR last weekend either except for a tiny strip on one of the girls.I go to Juarez on ocasion for a weekend trip when I can't make it to San Jose and have found more there than anywhere I have been.rbc100

What a lame article! The author talks to like one supposed Del Rey regular, the "all-knowing" ex cop, and probably spends no more than half a day at the Blue Marlin bar, yet has no problem making sweeping generalizations about the looks, attitudes and character of us mongers. In my travels to San Jose and a handful of other mongering hot spots (e.g., Amsterdam, Prague, Curacao, Buenos Aires), I have met a wide variety of individuals who simply defy stereotyping, with the lone exception that I have NEVER met a monger who was interested in having sex with a minor. I don't deny that this problem doesn't exist, but I'm confident that the overwhelming majority of us hobbyists deplore this activity. Yet this subject and and the subject of the slave trade of sex workers were so seemlessly integrated into this article that the general reader would think they are prominent aspects of the Costa Rican scene. I dont believe they are, and I hope I'm not wrong.

Jetsetter, I believe they are mostly wrong. Some of what the author describes probably happens. Some of what is described probably happens here, Canada, Europe, etc.

Having said that, I happened to read the article yesterday. I love the tone it put on CR. You can bet that article will not start any stampedes to SJ. The only price mentioned was $100. A lot of people can find girls in the US for more but not so much more to justify an excusion to CR. Most mongers that know Europe also know that they can have girls in Amsterdam and Prague for $100 or less. If I had read that article before ever visiting I would not consider a place I want to visit.

A knife in the back:

I do not wish to leave the impression that I read this magazine article word foreword carefully. It was just a quick runs through at the newsstand on my lunch hour. But the thing that stands out in my mind was a statement by a psychologist ( and I may not be right on that) to the effect that when these girls are with us all they are doing is fantasizing about shoving a knife into our backs.

That statement alone will cause me to purchase the magazine and read the article very carefully. Not because I have the slightest doubt that that statement is ridiculous but I would like to know about the man who would make it. What is the agenda in play here?

Lee

The beauty to me is that the article won't cause any avalanche. What if the crux of the article is that you can meet great people, make good friends, get laid and sucked off by sexy girls over and over, and see some of the most beautiful nature in the world at a very low relative cost?

THAT would cause us some problems.
