I know this doesn't answer your question but get a response in writing from the hotel. This won't be the first time they have answered the question.
Perfectly said. I usually stay near the airport at the Marriott Hacienda Balen (mentioned it a couple times on this site) and they are all good with letting guests stay. It is surely a 4+ star hotel and acceptable for business travel surely.
