A United States citizen found dead in the Morazán Hotel has been tentatively identified as Gary Gaudette, 50, said officials with the Judicial Investigation Organization.

Gaudette's body was found Saturday approximately 1:15 p.m., said officials. He reportedly entered his room earlier in the day with a woman. She left a short time later and when employees knocked on the door, no one answered, officials said. Upon entry, Gaudette's death appeared natural and none of his money or personal items were missing, officials said. The door was locked from the inside and there were no signs of violence.

An autopsy said that Gaudette had died of natural causes but officials are awaiting a toxicology report to determine whether his body had foreign substances in it.

I always wonder how they know (the news media) that "none of his money or personal possessions were missing." I find it odd that the newspaper would make such a statement. Maybe half his money and his digital camera and watch were missing. Perhaps his wedding ring. Just odd.

I think the comment about his belongings not missing would be included by the newspaper to keep the hotel from suing them for slander.

Actually, I think it had more to do with the question of whether the death was the result of natural causes or foul play. A guy brings a hooker to his room and the next time anyone sees him he's dead. Its obvious what the first thing many of us wondered or this thread wouldn't have been started to begin with. If the girl was someone like the Viper Lady, she could have drugged or killed him to get his money. Since the money is still there, it makes it seem less likely that was the case - hence the comment.

Of course, the guy could have died from a heart attack or some other natural cause while the girl was still there and she either had the good sense not to compound the problem by robbing the dead and drawing suspicion to herself or was simply so freaked she simply took off without touching anything. However, the fact that the room was locked from the inside seems to preclude that as well.

How would the hotel know if all his persnoal belongings were there?.. Cash could have been taken and they would not know.
